Just upgraded from a his 5850 to the superclocked 570 but my fps has droped loads, with the 5850 i was getting over 100fps and with the 570 is down to 60fps!!

Im using the same res 1920x1080, same settings and latest drivers. Am i doing something wrong?

Vsync enabled perhaps? (caps the fps to the screen refresh rate, which will be 60hz).

Which is why 120hz monitors are better! am i right in thinking a 120hz screen would cap frames at 120, sorry for the obvious questions!!

Thanks, i think i will put vsync back on i just wanted to make sure this card was as big an upgrade as i had indtended it to be!

Make sure you have triplebuffering enabled.Use D3DOVERRIDER otherwise if your frame rate drops even 1 frame below 60 it will go to 30 fps to stay in sync with your screen.Triplebuffering in the nividia drivers only refers to openGL programs not directx. (unless they have sneakily changed it since i last looked ;) )

Long read but informative, check out pages 5 to 10 to get the lowdown on the good and bad of vsync/triplebuffering.

Most recent games have triple buffering enabled by default, and its a better implementation than forcing it using D3Doverrider as the methods employed by that program create an extra frame of input lag.
