Bloody game keeps crashing on me now, plays ok for a while then it freezes with audio still playing and drops me out to desktop. Even at stock cpu speeds its doing it. Suppose i'll have to redload it and reinstall seeing as eadm seems to like deleting the install files even when i tell it i want them saved.

Happened to me twice yesterday mate i thought it was my OC that crashed it but after looking in event viewer it showed that the punkbuster had stopped working

The semi auto sniper rifles are terrible. Vss is at least reliable, trying to get bronze on the SVU and T88 was like pulling teeth they were so bad.

hmm, used the vss a bit more today its okkkk but just dont feel like a sniper rifle not powerful enough and just a bit too fast.

the SVU is brilliant put the dot scope on it and become a aggressive recon brilliant for medium and close combat. the t88 is ok too, just get used to the recoil its more powerfuller then the svu accuracy lets it down a bit.

M24 is king though, the m95 is good just a bit slow too reload though. what motion sensing mines are people on about? I only have C4 or mortar and i cant unlock any more sniper stuff.

Meh, at close range you may aswell take either a shotgun or an M24/SV98. If you've taken a red dot sight or 4x scope you've already lost the primary benefit of the M24/SV98 over the Slug Shotgun and thats that the sniper rifles leave you room to take Lightweight.

And are you seriously saying you've never pressed 4 as a Recon or even looked at the popup menu bar listing your weapons when you change?

Most likely a gfx drivers issue. Try reinstalling drivers and if that doesnt work try reducing the level of AA.

re VSS: it's awesome with 4x scope, magnum ammo and c4 - total rush weapon ;)

Second night on the trot that I was getting frequent CTDs as it was loading the map. Just before it got to kit selection it would crash. The game has run flawlessly since I got it in December, up until now. I don't think I have made any changes to my machine recently that could have caused this.

Anyway, both nights I checked the integrity of the game files in Steam and both nights it found a difference and downloaded the relevant files for me. This fixed the problem both times and allowed me to start playing again, but I suspect I will run into problems again tonight.

I did check event logs and punkbuster service was started and stopped several times - not sure if that was the cause of the crashes or because of the crashes.

There is a crashreport.xml in the BFBC2 folder, but I can't decipher anything useful from it.

Gigabyte GTX460 OC. I had been running an overclock on this to 800/1600/2000, but never had any problems before now. I removed this OC last night just in case, but still got CTDs. CPU is a Phenom II 965, but has never been overclocked.

I will get back to you on driver version when I get home, but I haven't changed them since building the machine in December and they were the most recent Nvidia drivers at the time.
