Does anyone know why a vertical section of my heated windscreen has stopped working? Is there anything I can do to get it working again, its right in my view.

Thanks

I had an old Granada Scorpio that had a heated screen, when mine stopped working, it turned out to be the loom that was faulty - after I'd had a new screen fitted and that didn't work either.

afaik Ford can test the screen for you. :)

Fiesta Mk6's went through a batch of bad screens i think it was late 2006 to early 2007... Yup, mine has the same problem. Ford claimed it was stone chips causing the damage, so wouldn't repair any without a fight. Ive learnt to live with it, because knowing my luck ill get it replaced only to be hit by a huge stone or something and break it a few days later.... :(

There is a separate fuse for each side of the screen, try swapping them around under the bonet.

Other than that if you've got fully comp insurance get it replaced for about 70quid excess

Haha, well i've had a windscreen replaced purely because one side of the heated screen stopped working. Didn't have any issues with that atall, i never pretended i wanted a new screen for any other reason.

My mums Ford Fusion has the same problem - a small part of the heated screen just doesn't work. It isn't that much of a problem, but would guess it would need a replacement screen (once checked fuses).

I've had my screen changed on my current and previous car without a problem. You don't need to take a hammer to it! Both had lots of tiny stone marks on them, which showed up a lot in low sun.
