Hot Zalman 7v Fan resistors

Hi all,

I bought some Zalman 7v fan resistor things (in this case, it's connected between the fan, and the built in fan controller on my FT02). They seem to slow the fans down quite nicely (though they stall if they're set at low on the fan controller when starting from a cold/fresh boot).

I have however noticed that the resistors seem to get quite hot. They're around the side panel of the FT02, and thus are against the sound proofing foam - so I'm a little concerned about the heat that they're giving out.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Cheers,

Rich

they're resistors, they're going to get hot as they're essentially turning electrical energy into heat energy to reduce the voltage :p

That's what I'm a little unsure of...

I'm guessing they're not actually getting that hot - was just a bit of a surprise...!

Might try them out again in a bit - possibly with the side off and see how toasty they get over the next hour or two.

Thanks,

Rich
