Best IT lesson ever...

Not so much IT lessons but we did Computer studies. Our first lesson was to work out how to toast 3 slices of bread on a grill that you could only have 2 slices on when they take around 30 seconds per side to toast.. Something like that, basically you had to use your head and work out how long to toast them before swapping them over so you could have 3 slices all toasted at the same time... cant remember the exact question though.

That was what we did in Computer studies none of this gaming and dossing around.

Basically me and my mates decided to have a laugh so we started signing each other up using each other's e-mail for stuff. Within a one hour period I started receiving knitting daily newsletters, I'm now signed up for the X-factor:eek:, have an account on Gayessex.org  and worst of all have a 30 day BNP membership:(

Wondering if anyone else has done something similar at work/school:D

And in other news, school leavers today are finding it harder and harder to find employment. I wonder why..

Our IT lessons at school consisted of hand-marking punched cards, then sending them off to the local university to be entered onto the mainframe - always came back with a spelling mistook the first time, so had to re-submit with the corructed cards. Results came back on 15inch wide continuous paper

Such Fun :P

Haha in my I.T lessons me and BJN handed out copies of the Halo multiplayer demo to everyone, and started off massive LAN games over the school network..

Amazingly enough, the school PC's could run it better than my own :(

I also shut down pretty much every PC connected to the school network in one go by using the command prompt :D that was one crack easily opened...

Oh and me and a friend downloaded all the software we could off of various network locations, up until an I.T technician walked in, sat down next to us, and asked us how the **** we had got past the password authentication. There wasn't one :D

Instead of signing each other up, sign the whole mailing list up....
That caused a few problems at school! But it wasn't me.

We used to have the little LAN parties :)

Spell out funny stuff behind the teacher while he was using 'Ranger Outpost', since our screens were all on the board behind him.

Other stuff too.

:)

One boring IT lesson we decided to do something interesting.

Pupil "Eh what hotel is near the airport at Washington DC?"
Teacher "Hmm.. I presume there is a Hilton. There's always a Hilton near the airport."

Que emailing the FBI;

"I have some urget information, I suspect that pupil of ..... his name is.... of this address..... has plans to harm or kill the President of the USA (at the time GWB). He is departing from.... at this date... flight number.... and will be staying at the Hilton Hotel."

Long story short FBI managed to trace it back to a culster of PCs in our school... They knew the time it was sent, etc.

We had FBI operatives interview us.

The person sending the email was banned from entering the USA for 2 years and let off with a slap on the wrist.

The person who the email was about was banned from entering the USA for 10 years.

Neither were allowed to touch a PC at school ever again.
True Story :)

Precisely you get Gaming sessions instead!:p

I wish i was at your school then.

I am in my first year of my A Level and we've already had to make a logo, a newsletter, a complicated powerpoint presentation a massive spreadsheet and now we're currently making a massive database and the whole class is for the first time ever coding PHP for a website.

And worse of all, we can't get five minutes through the database, the hardest my teacher has seen in over 15 years, without him saying...

'Microsoft Access is crap, it must have been made by people on drugs'

No gaming for me :(
