I need to steal my own bike...

Yeh. Went to unlock my bike this morning and the key snapped in half, I saw the broken half briefly before it vanished from sight, I've spent 20 minutes looking for it to no avail!

Anyway, its a big U-shaped lock, 12mm hardened steel.

Is a hacksaw going to be enough? Or do I need to find someone with an angle grinder or something?

That's the type of crap that would happen to me.

You can do it with a hacksaw, but you'll be there a long long time, and need lots of blades. Angle grinder will go through it in seconds.

Depending on the lock if you can hit a courner with a hammer with enough force it might give. That or levering something through it like a thick screw driver. Assuming it's on a chain? could you not cut through this or is it hardened too?

use pliers and turn the remains of the key in the key hole and then pull it out.

That will only work with the old Kryptonite D-Locks which were recalled some years ago.

Cut a whole in the bike frame and remove from the lock, simples.

I would do this if I could find the remains! They fell and vanished, I've looked and looked.
