Critique my car advert please?

tl;dr sorry :p

But, I will say put more picture in the add. A picture of a clean engine cover doesn't really sell it for me.
And get a proper link in for your photobucket pictures. Sod copy/pasting it into the browser..

You can only have 3 pictures, I should stop being tight and just pay I think you can have upto 9 then. I borrowed my dads camera which is meant to be 10mp but the pictures were awful. I may try and take some more photos on a diffrent setting on the camera. Thanks for the advise!

Nice car, advert gets a bit dull, if I were flicking around PH I'd think you had something to hide and were trying to say too much.

PH free is rubbish for selling cars anyway, get it on AT or pay up and get more decent pics

Thanks hopefully it will sell, I am wanting to get something a little more sporty I like audi TT's so we shall see.

Your E46 handles better and is more 'sporting' drive than an Audi TT.

Do you actually mean you just want something that 'looks' sporty?

Yeah that and I fancy a car with a turbo, The TT has 225bhp with a remap and forge recirc valve and pannel filter you can have 265bhp. I have been in a friends several times and felt a lot quicker and seemed to handle better. I never really have pushed the bmw to hard because I was always scared of the back end stepping out. I may well decide after having one for a while I want another bmw but I will wait and get a 330ci on a higher spec. But I fancy a change and I like the audi so I think that is what I will end up getting.

In the pics it says 'self service' in the log book, but not in description..or have I misread something?

Would look and read better if you listed what it had, instead of just doing line after line of text.

Most adverts list the spec, such as ABS, Aircon, Leather interior then go into detail if needed.

Well maybe I should describe it diffrently. The first few services were completed at bmw and then a indy and then the owner I bought the car from had it serviced at his mates garage but had the recipts for all of the parts and oil etc. He also had waterpump and parts of the cooling system replaced, front control arm all done at bmw main dealer with invoice. Since I have had it I had it serviced at a independant garage that I had been reconmended to. I thought with the proof of all the servicing it would be classed as FSH just not FBMWSH but I am possibly mistaken if you think I should change it to explain this I could in the advert.

Having driven them both the Audi looks good and grips but thats all it does better. The 3 Series is better handling, better to drive, has miles better steering feel, it's just a far better drivers choice than a front wheel drive, oh sorry no Haldex 4wd, Audi TT.

The 330Ci is the right way to go - a bit quicker than a 225 TT, but it handles better and drives better.

You need to drive them both, then you'll get it. Don't let the BMW be clouded by the fact you bought probably the worst engine in the range at that time - the 323i really is a pointless car as you've now discovered.

Some good advise there, I do agree with you about the 323 I feel it would have the same running costs of a 328 if not a 330ci. The 330ci possibly will use a little more petrol. I have been out in a TT and went for a long test and and really enjoyed it the sound system was the bose and was far better than the bmw one. It also had full leather seats and they seemed to hold you in a little better than the bmw seats. I will possbily get a test drive on a 330ci facelift I know what to look out for in the bmw now but I should have listened to everybody on here in the first place and bought a 328/330 but sometimes you can't be told! Fox did you not feel the 4wd was very good then? I thought it was brilliant but I drove it on a slightly damp day and I could push on a lot hard than I could have in the bmw and felt confident.

Fox doesn't understand that Haldex is a company and seems to think that anything with 'Haldex' is crap.

Apart from that, it's a very good system. Yes, it's predominantly FWD, but it grips and grips and grip.
However, that also leads to a rather unexciting drive, and understeer rather than the exciting oversteer you get in the BMW.

I often caution against 330Ci's but in your case it would cost as near as makes no difference the same to run - BMW engines seem to consume fuel proportional to the amount of cylinders they have not the cubic capacity of the engine. Therefore you'd see little change in cost but a whole lot of change in terms of performance.

Yes, the standard BMW stereo is cack but then its a tad unfair to compare an upgraded Bose stereo against the standard BMW one when BMW also has upgraded stereo options available - the 330Ci is available with the Harmon Kardon stereo. Your car also doesn't have decent sport seats, the 330Ci of course does - and they are full leather.

I didn't particularly like the 4wd, no. I didn't feel it gave me that much benefit in terms of driver enjoyment. It felt more like a safety feature than anything else - and regardless of the fact it's 4wd and sends a proportion of drive to the back etc etc it's still a front wheel drive platform at heart.

It isn't a drivers car, it's a posh Coupe. It's good at being a posh Coupe and it's far from a bad car, but if you seek something more sporting than an E46 a TT isn't it.

Fox is talking specifically about the implementation of Haldex found in the Mk1 Audi TT, the car being discussed here. I note you've managed to come up with the same criticisms I did, so what your point is I've no idea.

I am perfectly aware that Haldex is a company (Seriously, patronising much? Did you honestly think I didn't know Haldex was a company? Bwahahaha)- but I've never been impressed with any of the cars I've driven fitted with one of their systems.

Down to the driver I suppose, but, to my mind, the e46 handles a lot better than the TT but with the traits of RWD. If the OP is uncomfortable with that, I can see the attraction to the TT & its handling feel.

One is a drivers car, the other is for hairdressers. :D

Nice advert btw.

I am not uncomfortable with the bmw I have done a couple of drift days in friends s14's skylines old e36 I know what to expect but even after doing that the bmw stepped out once when I didn't expect it and gave me a bit of a shock. I am not to fussed about rwd fwd on the road I won't be drifting it as I value my licence If I want to drift I will go to a local drift day with a old banger. It may seem strange but I feel the 323 is almost underpowered as when the backend stepped out I went to power on and it didn't like it! I guess it's not slow but feel for the size of the car it could do with some more power. I like the TT and thought I would have a change from a BMW I am going to have a look at a few on autotrader and possibly go and test drive a high spec 330ci.

Fair enough, from your OP, I read you were a bit "RWD Death wary" as so many seem to be....

I'll be interested to see what you think of the 330. :)
