I'm looking to build a HTPC in a silverstone gd05 case
http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=GD05&area=

It will be used for a bit of gaming. I'm not bothered about max settings, just to be able to play modern games.

Can you kind people cast your eyes over those specs and give your opinions.
I'm wanting to spend around the 500 quid mark for the items listed below in whatever form.

I'd suggest downgrading the CPU to the Athlon II X4 to save yourself ~£30, then upgrade your RAM to the Geil 2x2GB, as Geil is OCUK's partner due to performance and reliability.

That sounds awesome especially if you could play games on it to! Get a wireless 360 dongle, plug it in you have made your own console pretty much ! : ) Games are cheaper, will still look as good as they do on 360 due to you getting a decent graphics card and you you could make it play blu-rays as well if you get the drive!

Whats not to like about that, and the case is low profile to, nice ; )

Thanks for the help...is that the geil value stuff?

Is their a better bang for buck GFX card than the 5830 for a little more?

Geil Value RAM, yeah- don't spend extra on performance RAM, you won't be able to tell the difference.

The 6850 currently on the site for £137.99 is the best bang-for-buck you'll get in terms of graphics cards, the question is whether you can afford the extra £38. The 5830 is still a good card.

Thanks Hybrid,
The only suitable geil I can find is this....
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-104-GL

which is more than all this ocz stuff on offer.
Why does all the memory say suitable for i-core systems but not mention amd ?

I can afford 38 quid extra for the gfx card if I downgrade to athlon 640.
I could afford it anyway but I want to draw a line at that point or I'll want to upgrade all sorts !!
