Hello all, i have got me a vespa and want to make a storage unit as the misses wont let me keep it in the front room much longer :D

i want to do something with the area below. The primary aim is to keep it dry, the secondary is to make it a little more secure, but i do have a hefty chain lock and disc lock.

As you can see i have the area below and have mocked up with my advanced graphic pack MS paint what i want to archive. input please!

yeh knock yourself up a lean-to. measure up and take the measurements to a good timber yard or other and they should cut the mdf to size for you and stain it yourself or you could go a more expensive way and get some treated hardwood. just put a little bit of a pitch on the roof. or save yourself all that trouble and just get a cover for it?

That looks like it would be a perfect barbeque:(

I'm gonna suggest you just buy a cheap shed. You've got fairly ambitious plans and I think it will actually end up pretty expensive. Also, will your neighbours be happy with you removing the fence and bricking it up? Might want to ask them first.

edit:

An MDF lean to? :/

I would remove the circled and extend X brickwork then have a pitched roof and a wooden front with the gates for access.

yeah thats the plan, sorry my drawings are not great, above i want to extend 'x' and remove the selected. I looked into sheds, but for a wide vespa the doors are no good, motorbike sheds seems to cost around £800 - £1000

the wooden fence backs onto a private road so no neighbours to worry about

the vespa is too wide :(

yeah maybe not but there was no budget given

no budget in place really, under £500 would be nice :)

Why are you planning on extending the brick upwards?

I would do what brian said then attached something to the wall so you can chain the bike up inside the enclosure.

I don't really see the point if you are going to put the "roof" at the current height anyway, seems like extra expense for no reason to me.

We have something pretty much identical in our garden that we built, I'd take pictures but I'm at work :(

Just build a mini-carport and get a cover or large sheet of tarpaulin for extra weather protection.
For security, dig a deep hole, fill with concrete and set into the concrete a suitable motorcycle anchor.

yeah maybe your right about going up. So what about levelling the slopped floor? is that something i will need to do? as the doors shutting and so on?

If the bikes going in it, the doors won't open inwards, they'll open out. And it looks like where you want the frame for the doors, the area in front of that seems level so shouldn't be a problem. And if it's not, if it slopes down it shouldn't obstruct the doors opening out.

Tesco Direct are selling a 6x4 Metal Pent Shed for £99 just now.

can anyone tell me the dimensions for this? the jokers at work have blocked the web site :D

my vespa is

Overall length: 1,810 mm (71.3 inches)
Overall width: 740 mm (29.1 inches)

6ft = 72 inches.
4ft = 48 inches.

I would go by the 8x4. Some extra room for manoeuvring the bike into place. Provided the 8 fits length ways into the space. Might be to big.
