Do these mice look refurbished to you?

So a bookselling website beginning with A is selling Logitech G500 mice at £32, which is quite a bargain when their RRP is £60, so I snapped one up. It was packaged perfectly, but I noticed the feet were scratched, and the paint around the palm and buttons was faded. So I complained and they sent me a new one. Guess what? The feet are scratched and the paint on the palm and buttons is faded!

Is this to be expected or do you think these are seconds / refurbished returns being sold off cheap? Am I being too picky? (I mean, it works perfectly and it's only cosmetic as far as I can tell, but microswitches only have a finite lifetime so if they've been used before the life of the mouse will be shorter.)

Mouse 1 (forgive my photography skills :)):

... and the replacement, which I haven't fully taken out of the packaging:

You can't post links to other websites selling computer products for obvious reasons. You will need to edit that.

To answer the question however... The company in question does allow sellers to sell their products on their site, if that makes sense. It's not always coming straight from the company itself, looks like a third party sale.

It definitely looks refurbished, I'd personally get a full refund and order from here :)

Heh, I don't think this thread will encourage customers away from this site... :)

It's marked as "dispatched and sold by A*****.co.uk" so it wasn't via from some unknown third party.

I checked a few sites, I thought including here... but now I've checked again Overclockers have them for £30.62 so I may order one from here... just hope Logitech haven't unleashed a whole raft of these with different sellers to be sold cheaply.

Yip, definitely looks used to me. Were they advertised as new? If so send em back, because they are definitely arn't.

Yes... I mean it doesn't say "these are new", but it doesn't say they're not, so you assume they are. I won't post a link but you can take a look if you want.

Yeah OP i'd remove the mentions of the competition site

As for the mice....they definitely don't look new. If it says "a third party" it means it's not from one of the websites warehouses but from someone using the website as a store front.

The paint is basically like that anyway (cant remember exactly as was ages ago). if they were used, then the logitech logo would have gone black/come off a long time ago. Mine went within a few months. Mine is also pretty damn old and looks similar to those on the paint job, although, mine is a tiny tiny tiny bit darker in places. I think the paint doesnt really come off, just gets dirty tbh. However, the feet in the first one are appalling, they are worse than mine thats been on a razer destructor since it came out of its box all shiny (and new with no damaged feet).

Also, you could look in the "groves" on the top, as any dead skin/sweat build up in that area is nearly impossible to get out without damaging the product. I cant see it in your photos, or remember if it was on this mouse, but one I had recently had plastic over the feet, that isnt on it is it?

Makes sense... I wasn't sure about the paint... it's possible it's supposed to be like this. The Logitech logo is likely in a different type of paint to the silver "splatter", but if as you say, that tends to fade, then that would suggest these aren't re-used.

No, they're perfectly clean as far as I can see.

There wasn't any plastic on the feet.

I wouldn't if it breaks email logitech and they will send you a new one.... job done... Logitech > (insert any company name here) when it comes to returns and replacements.

Looks new to me. Ive seen several of Logitech's mice have that 'faded' paint out of the box.

Good point. Their 3-year warranty is good and I used it on a previous mouse I had... they sent me brand new upgraded model and didn't even ask for the broken one back.

Hmm... might just keep the first mouse I got. Still don't know why the feet are scratched, but feet get scratched anyway and I don't think it affects performance too much.

The only thing that I can see that suggests they might have been used is the very light scuffing to the feet, as someone mentioned the paint job on these mice looks like that and if mine are anything to go by the Logitech logo comes off pretty quickly through use.
