Just watched his live speech, massive crowds on the streets,

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak has said he will stay in office and transfer power after September's presidential election.

His comments appeared to confound reports he was preparing to stand down immediately.

Guys got some balls, people saying they will make the economy fall if he stays in power, go on strike, tbh he should go, he went on about pride and saying he would die on Egyptian soil.

indeed he will die on Egyptian soil, when the army pull off a military coup and their first action to apease the angry baying mobs is to execute Mubarak and ensure it is screened on all TV channels available in Egypt !!!!!

I fear this is going to start getting violent. What is Mubarak up to? What difference does 6 months make? He's had 30 years, the game's up now imo.

Aye, its the military taking it in the neck not Mubarak in his palace or mansion, the army cant be bothered fighting anymore against their people.

When there was an announcement being mentioned I hoped that with all these troubles going at the moment he'd have done the decent thing, and admitted it's awesome having a surname rhyming with Bacharach

Hmm weren't the crowd all celebrating the breaking news of him being about to step down right before he has come out and declared this? how is this not going to explode? :x

Nothing happening at the moment but tomorrow Friday they all have the day off, prayer and other stuff, dis gonna be good.

Surely him stepping down in September is the best way anyway? You don't want a power vacuum.

indeed, it would make the most sense. It would be done with proper procedure and voting in a new guy could be carried out. But the public are throwing a wobbley and wanting it done right away. And so the unrest will carry on

The general public know nothing about running a country.
