I'm looking for those people that actually have these fan's in regular layout case (i.e. not a 90 degree case like the RV02 or FT02).

Have you actually seen good temp gains (lower temps), from using these as intakes over regular case fan's?

Also, general impressions of the fans, noise etc.

The major thing I found with my 180mm APs is that I could run them very slowly via my fan controller and not notice a significant rise in my GPU / CPU temperature when compared to them running at their maximum speed (at which point they are quite noisy). (This is when gaming and my system is under load, not idle).

This wasn't the case with the older fans that I replaced in my FT02 (with the honeycomb design flow directors).

They also dropped my temperatures in general, by 3ish degrees if I remember correctly. It has been awhile since I changed the fans though, and I didn't really record any temperatures so I can only give you a rough idea of what I feel they did for me.

Hope that's moderately helpful! Wait for more opinions though :).

Now I know I have the FT02 but I would imagine the fans perform similarly in a normal case layout.

Very seriously considering a pair of thees in 140mm for the front of my case.

Yup, for me a 140 down the bottom intake, and then a 120mm in the kama bay.. that's what I am thinking.

Awesome stuff :-) Thanks Parsley :-)

Anyone with a regular case and these fans?

I'm not sure about these fans. Seems to me that having a grille in front of the airflow would just create turbulence and noise.

I'll see if Silverstone will send me one to review, in my opinion, putting honest reviews on forums like this about a product people are interested in is way more effective than posting them on my site. I'll see what response I get and get back to you if it's good!

I've got some in my FT02. They do seem to shift a fair bit of air. On the 'high' setting, it's like a gale blowing through, though are a bit noisy. On the 'low' setting, they're much quieter (not silent, mind), and seem to also shift a decent amount of air as well.

I reckon the best thing would be to have them on a proper, variable, fan controller - allowing you to dial in your desired level of cooling to noise ratio.

Would it be possible to run theese on a fan controller, all of my current standard 3 pin case fans are ran via a 6 channel zalman control unit.

The ones i was considering are the 140mm SST-AP141-UV, seems they feature voltage reduction cables.

1500 rpm @12v
1000 rpm @7v
700 rpm @5v

Cant link to the store as theyre an ocuk competitor.

I'm running the three fans on separate channels of my Lamptron Touch (for control purposes) - I think it's best to check power consumption, as I didn't think the Zalman fan controller could dish much power out (much like most fan controllers, besides Lamptrons and those like the Heatmaster et al).

I can attest they are absolutely silent at 35% (~600rpm), though are quite noisy at 100%.

That's the 180mm fans, though I guess the smaller fans would be similar.

Marvin> I would imagine since they are at the bottom of the case (in your FT02) instead of at the front, the noise will be muted slightly anyway? (A good thing!)

Hmm.. thought more people would have tried them to be honest.

This is true...

Also, I suspect not many have tried the smaller fans due to the other brands being at the forefront of the mind through advertising and reputation, and the 180mm fans are a fairly odd size (most large fans are 200mm or more), and thus basically only FT02 and RV02 users will have tried them.

Well, that's my theory anyway.

I bought 4 120mm Air Penetrators out of impulse to strap to my Black Ice GTX480 radiaor in replacement over my Noctua P12. My CPU and GPU temps went up by 2-4 degees C. As a radiator fan, it's a no no because the radiator pipes and fins completely negate the whole purpose of what the Air Penetrators we're designed to achieve. Noise wise, it was a bit more quiet than the Noctuas when spinning at maximum rpm.

I did put both a single Air Penetrator side by side with a Noctua on my table top and powered them up to the fastest rpm. Sitting at approximately 60cm away from them with the aid of paper and tissue, I can safely say that the Air Penetrators did make them flutter, where the Noctuas didn't.

However, I didn't test them as a case fan simply because my system is watercooled. As a case fan, you may see some temperature drops, but don't hold me to that!
