Kwik Fit MOT's

Anyone ever had just an MOT at Kwik Fit? They are only £35 and convenient as they are just down the road from me. I'm just wondering if they are geared towards failing you on items that they specialise in repairing to drum up some extra work.

My car is 10 years old but sailed through its MOT last Feb when Nationwide Autocentres had their £25 offer on. £35 at Kwik Fit is the cheapest that I can find it now though. I've never had any work done by them.

Some will some won't, It's the same at pretty much all garages though. They are all geared up to repair something....

Got the gf's micra Mot'd at Kwik fit (it was a sunday) they passed it ok.

kiwk fit are about one of the most honest MOT's around atm

something to do with them having one MOT licence for the whole company,

any dodgy shenanigans and they loose hundreds of MOT stations.

i'd imagine their staff are whiter than white atm

Take it to your local council MOT test centre! by law they have to MOT the publics vehicles as well as the councils own vehicles. As they don't do any repairs they'll never try to fleece you. use This to find your local one.

Same with the Mrs's Micra - booked online for the MOT so it was £30 and then it had a seized brake which they fixed for £20.

Also had my car MOT'd by them and, again, passed no probs.

Experience probably depends where you are in the country as I imagine some are more dodgy then others.

I've had vouchers for cheaper MOTs from Kwik Fit for the last few years, and the car has passed each time without so much as an advisory.

I have to say, the first time I went to Kwik Fit (the week after passing my test) I was instantly cautious as I went for a tyre check and they said "1.6 rears and 1.0 fronts". Turns out they were right as the woman had never changed the tyres since she got it.

Ever since then, they've been fine. The last time I went to get some tyres balanced (£28 for all 4) the boy pointed out that the bearings were a bit off, so I thought "here we go", but he repacked them for free.

Very honest MOT's, but perhaps a little too honest for some. They nit pick about a lot of issues that a distracting chat might cover up at some garages.

If your car is fine, i'd use them with no hesitation.

My only problem with Kwik Fit is that every time I go in there they say that my wheel alignment is off and that I'll wear my tyres out quickly if they don't sort it out RIGHT NOW for the low low price of £39....Gets a bit tedious when you know that theres nothing wrong with your wheel alignment and you know the dudes just trying to sell you something you clearly don't need.

Other then that, no complaints.

I used them via online booking last week for my mot actually, can't complain at all.
Mind you I knew for certain the car would pass.

The missus took her Vectra there for it's MOT recently. I knew the front pads were low and thought the front discs would need replacing too as there was a bit of a lip on them. They replaced the front pads and was impressed by their honesty when they said that the discs, while worn, would still be good for several thousand miles.

MOT was only £21 as well.

Half price MOT's??

NO NO NO NO NO IMO, seen far too many people get stung with loads of failures and £350 repair bills, when infact a good % of the bits it failed on, should have passed.

Can't stand these commercial places, there to rip the money out your hand quicker than you can say pass me the lube.

One of the guys I work with had his done yesterday. Passed no problem.

Do you have any factual argument to back that rather outrageous statement up? The nationwide half price MOT offer is like the DFS half price sale. Its been around for years and is simply their normal price.

The quality of the MOT is fine, it is carried our honestly and professionally in my fairly significant experience.
