So someone attempted to steal my bike the other day, and in the process broke the lock. I only really want to spend a max of £15 if possible, not much money available. What would be best?

I found out the previous lock was a Halfords £9.99 one...

As previously mentioned, you need to spend at least £20-£25+ on a D-Lock. If you use a £9.99 Halfords / Tesco jobby, it's going to get nicked.

You can find the silver rated "Kryptonite KryptoLok Series 2 Standard Lock & Flex Cable" available from a well known online retailer for ~£20.

Go for this as you really need a cable to go with the lock to stop tadgers stealing the wheels out of badness :(

I spent about £50 in total for a Kryptonite New York lock and cable for this very thing.... Damn thing weighs a ton mind so I only take it if I know I will be needing it :o

I bought a cheapo Halfords jobby to go with my cheapo Carrera bike, but once I get my new bike (Looking at an Orange Crush) I'll spend some on a good lock. Though for £14.99 this lock doesn't seem too bad. Obviously it isn't good, either. :P

+1 for Kryptonite although I'd go down the Evolution route.
It'll probably set you back about £30 but they're worth having. Mine's lasted me over 4 years now with no troubles, they'll outlast your bikes easily.

All the Kryptonite D-Lock's are pretty much the same save for differences in materials and shackle thickness which allow greater theft resistance

Hmm I got £7ish cashback to Paypal the other day so I think I might look into that one :)

I don't really want to spend that much as I only use it during the day, and only locked up in generally public areas (town etc).
