Mubarak Steps down.

A clear example social media sensationalism, people getting so exited about something that doesn't affect them but because its on twitter & sky news its a massive historic moment.

Ugh.

This is bigger than the pulling down of the Berlin wall, change is coming to the whole of the middle east. this is the real people making their voice heard, not the extremist not a terrorist organisation but real normal working people looking for real freedom and a true democracy. if saddam was still in power iraq would have gone the same way. IRAN SYRIA??????? whats to come for them now...

The west needs to stay out, we the west were is only true supporter....

Yeeees freedom for Egypt. Now for open and free elections later in the year. The Egyptian people will vote for who they want fairly and if we don't like it then tough. Its there damn country and I have every confidence they will select a proper and fair government to lead them. It's a proud moment for the people who have had it rough for 30 years.

Their democratic choices will be:

Another US puppet = receive lots of aid and kisses.
Muslim Brotherhood = no aid, cut off like Palestine and possibly invaded under the guise of 'peace'.
Neutral = no aid, probably end up assassinated by the muslim brotherhood ;) creating a vacuum for a US puppet to 'democratically' take over.

You Bigoted clown.

Egyptis not Afghanistan, these people are not riding around in the mountains with ak47's and making love to goats. They are intelligent people.

Is it ironic or hypocritical to call someone else a bigot and then say that the Afghan's are riding around mountains with AK47s and making love to goats? :D

Can you name the last time a popular uprising deposed a leader of a major country? Not only a major country but key player in a major region of the world?

For reference Egypt is the 16th largest (by population) country in the world and the 27th richest. This up there with the Iranian revolution in significance, we'll have to see what the impact ends up being. If this triggers similar moves over much of the Middle East, this could end being the most impactful global event since WWII!

Keyboard warriors get so confused in their fits of rage.

As AmTechFox has said, I don't really understand why people seem to think this is such a 'good' thing. Mubarak was not a cruel dictator like Saddam Hussein, yes Egypt was a managed authoritarian regime BUT it was also stable and responsable actor for moderation in the Middle East.

To everyone who's saying 'OMG WOOT!' I'd like to know how many of them have been to Egypt, and secondly whether any of them have been to any other country in the Middle East or understand how real transitions towards democratic rule happen.

The Foreign Policy website seems to be timing out at the minute, I'm guessing the whole world is trying to get on there for some informed analysis, rather than I'll-considered celebratory fluff reporting.

Let this be a warning to all the governments around the world that if they don't listen to the aspirations of their population then same fate should be meeted out to them aswell.

Coalition government (Cameron & Nick) be warned:mad:. We are watching you:mad:.
