I've seen a second 6950 for 200 delivered with warranty, what I am not sure about are

My motherboard will require these cards to be side by side.. viable heat wise?

Also atm these seem to be going up in price and I will probably have to get one some point soon, any advice on anything that may bring prices down?

Is the one 6950(70) enough for what you're playing? What resolution you at? TBH, even with the superior scaling the 6XXX have to just about anything out there I'd rather spend the money on a single, faster card when I need the upgrade.

Heat and power wise I'd say you'd be ok, they are cool running cards. With 2 close together you may find them get noisier to keep the heat down though, depends upon spacing, case and airflow

Playing at 2560 , I don't mind the noise speakers / headphones usually loud enough so it doesn't bother me

The one 6950(70) is enough if I turn down some things in metro, there isn't a need for it as yet, but crysis 2 is out soon and other games I guess but really I was wanting to know how long this price increase is going to continue? Even if its just educated guesswork, cheapest atm are priceier than start of year

Is it new?

OCUK have a new one here for £211.99:

And you get free postage.

Ok if I do get one it would be that asus one as no the other one isn't new and with pandp its only a fiver difference.. still need to figure out if its worth it

al4x heat really isnt an issue
i have about a 1-2mm gap between cards and my temps never go above 68
dont go wedging anything as suggested, wasnt sure if serious tho

Actually I was serious. Take the top card and push it up as high as you can before you tighten the screw on it. Push the lower card down. Then put a rubber wedge towards the tail of the cards to hold them apart just a little, maybe .030" beyond parallel, every case/GFX fitting is a little different. A little makes a big difference when these cards are so close.

im well aware of the potential of the cf 6950s even outstripping 580 SLI in a couple of instances at the res i use

ok, thats good to hear the temps arent an issue, i have a question, if a game isnt using 100% gpu power does it take say 75% from each card or 100% from one and 50% from the other? [thinking of temps again]

again the is it worth it question is spinning in my head, i know if i went for it id be done with upgrades for a while!

I just bought a 2nd one, should be delivered tommorow. Hopefully it will flash to a 6970 as easily as the 1st.

Might be a bit over the top but I was ordering all the other parts for a brand new build and thought why not?

There is always newer and better technology around the corner. If you waited for the next big advancement you would never buy a thing!

Well i just bought my second 6970 :) i had 4870 in Xfire and i thought that was good "well when drivers came out to give better support"
I have read that the new 6900 series are vastly better in Xfire so i am very exited at getting my 2nd card.

Eveyrone spends there money in different way's but i would get one mate ;)

I think my main worry is if within the next say 3 months the card can be had for say 150

Ok just incase I do buy the asus one.. the 'this week only offer'.. ends tonite or Sunday night?
