How the heck does Tesco Clubcard work?

I may just be really really dim, but how the heck does Tesco Clubcard work?

Looking in the 'your vouchers' section on the website I have a stack of vouchers in there totalling £59 from May 2009. However, on the main Clubcard page it says I have 2 points and 0 clubcard vouchers. However, my latest clubcard statement through the post says I have £8.50 worth of vouchers or £25.50 worth of Clubcard Rewards. When I try to redeem these against a Clubcard Reward, I get an error saying the transaction can't be completed because I don't have enough Clubcard points.

How they heck does this thing work, and what's the difference between points, vouchers and Clubcard Rewards, and why can't I spend the £59 I've earned on something I want?

No idea. As far as I can tell, they send you vouchers. Which are next to useless. (products i dont buy, better deals elsewhere) These vouchers are money quivelent of the points you had. So basically it's useless. Tesco is overpriced anyway. But I still like to shop there.
 
Tesco and the others should have a single designated Voucher Redeemable till where all the slow coaches with handfuls of Vouchers all have to go so they can slow themselves down instead of holding the rest of us up who don't really care if we can save 2p on something and would rather be quicker in and out of there.

People should just be organised. When i have my vouchers i know which ones will work and which ones won't, i hand them over and they are done in about 20 seconds and if one doesn't work for whatever reason i don't do what some people do and ask to get the supervisor over who will explain why it doesn't work and then the customer gets in a big strop about it even though they are clearly in the wrong.

Over the space of a year you can easily get one or two free shops out of using the clubcard.
 
Right, I've finally got it working; it looks like it was simply a glitch on the site that was causing me a problem. Anyway, I've spent £25 worth of my available vouchers which buys me a £50 voucher for a clothing website, so I'm going to treat myself to something new. It all makes a lot more sense when it actually works!

The vouchers you get in the clubcard statement are just extra coupons I believe. The clubcard statement also only tells you how much £££ worth of vouchers you've collected since your last statement, not how many you have in total (this is why the £59 was a bit of a surprise).

Now I just need to spend the rest of my vouchers either on my next Tesco shop, or find some other stuff I want on the Clubcard Rewards site!

Cool, looks like you've worked it out now. Just remember that Tesco's card isn't like the Boots or Nectar one where you can knock your available balance off your next spend. With Tesco, you get a statement thru the post every 3 months with vouchers in blocks of £5.00. You tear them out of the book and redeem them at the till.

Yes, or like me, use the online code to get the money knocked off your online shop. You can also see all your available vouchers on the website, and it gives you the online voucher code next to them.
 
How does clubcard work?

It lures you into thinking you are getting something for nothing, when infact you are spending over the odds for poor quality, over processed food in the thought that a few points on a card make it decent value.

LOL, surely it's the same food you buy in any other supermarket?
 
Ahh Mrochester, I didn't know there was a section where you can see what vouchers you have left. I certainly do some of my shops online, so I'll have a nosey to see if I've overlooked any of my vouchers. Cheers.

That's a fairly incoherent post right there.
 
I don't get why people say tesco is over priced. Prices are almost exactly the same as Asda. I've added the same items to both online baskets on a few occasions to dispel this myth.

In fact Tesco used to be at least £10 cheaper than Asda when I could get their money off vouchers to work. Then there are the clubcard vouchers that add up and pay for the Christmas shop at the end of the year.

Not really, Clubcard has never been the reason I've shopped at Tesco. Most of the major supermarkets seem to have loyalty cards these days anyway.
 
We had a new Tesco store open near me and they sent me 4x£20 vouchers off for every £40 I spent. All vouchers were dated each 14 days (1 £20 voucher per 14 day period) throughout December and January.

Bloomin brilliant I thought. Cant argue with that.
