The HTC Desire can, because its doind it right now. As soon as you connect to your PC via USB you get an option to download an Android driver and sync your PC to the Desire handset. Its fast and its free as it comes straight out of your unlimited internet usage from your network provider (fair usage policy applies)

But can the IPhone 4 do it????

i urgently need to know!!!

thanks

iirc yes, but... i believe it only works if you pay for a tethering tariff as part of your contract and i think there's an app you have to pay for to use it as well. Or if you jailbreak the device you can tether it on your standard internet tariff and you don't have to pay for the app either. (someone clarify).

EDIT: I'm assuming you mean you just want to connect to the internet from your PC using your phone??

Yes, the data i am using right now, is courtesy of t-mobile. It is so so simple to sync the Desire to the PC.

I cant believe the IPhone cant manage it......

I am with T-mobile with my Android phone, and can connect it to use as a Modem at speeds around 250K which is plenty for just browsing.

And using a quick browser like opera also helps.

Used to do this on my SPV back in 2002 when I was at Uni, we didn't have a phone line but Orange had a deal at the time where you paid £6 a month for unlimited internet on the SPV. They used to tell me the usage in my bills and some of the ones I racked up would have been over 500 amonth on £/mb.

Modular, just bare in mind that the web and walk internet booster isn't truly unlimited, there is a cap, and its quite low, so is fine for normal web browsing, but would soon be eaten up by heavy pics or vids.

I use my HTC HD2, with my t-mobile contract as a back up if ever my main BB drops out.
