Don't know much about that Mobile GPU but maybe it doesn't support hardware acceleration?

What are you using to play the MKV files? MPC-HC is a nice MKV player, and when you remove all the external filters then it uses the GPU and hardly the CPU.

Not used nv for a few years but is there any option in the nv control panel to enable or dissable this.

Fixed it

Installled MPC-HC then I got an error saying please install DirectX Runtime June2010

Installed that

Launched MPC-HC and now have 45% Cpu with smooth silky playback and scanning
from my Home server via GIGABIT lan

Now I can watch movies in bed
