Looks nice Mark. Give me a shout when you move it on and if I have sold my XJ I might have that. At a special forum rate of course :-)

I missed you asking first time round, im going to use it for a bit, im not sure you'd like this if you didnt like the last one, go have a drive of one and see what you think.

I dont know how to do those multi quote jobbers so....

Firestar, there comes a time in every mans life where he looks back and say.... should have bought a Jag :D

Westyfield, Not so great in manual these ;)

Joshy, we know me and you, we know what gearbox is required dont we :)

The XJ is just a little too big and my GF simply wont drive it as she said it is for an old man!
The S type may be that little smaller and better on fuel than the XJ.

The other option is of course that I change the GF.

Its a tough one, have you known her long :D

Not a Jag person myself - hence to me that looks about appetising as dog turd mousse.

Very descriptive, i like that, a sort of gourmet car buff mix up.

What sort of cars float your boat out of curiosity?

German & Jap in the main but in terms of Jag only the new stuff ticks my boxes, the new stuff has shaken off that 'old man's car' image.

That's great value for money there. Pity it's not the facelift with better wheels though.

I've done quite a bit of driving in one of these, albeit an 05 model. They drive well, are deceptively quick and sound nice! Apparently, they're quite good in manual flavour too!

Enjoy it :)

Yea it must have just missed out on the 2004 facelift, being an SE it wouldnt have got any better wheels just the solid spoke ones and different dials inside and round fog lights/rear clusters.

Looks pretty good value to me and I like the looks.

My folks had a 3litre sport before their XJ, it went quite well from what I remember. That was until mother fell asleep at the wheel coming back from the airport after a 10hr flight from the US

She hit one of those large major road signs, the ones with the massive legs/posts concreted into the ground. Tore the front off the poor Jag. Her and my father walked away without a scratch, so I was quite impressed with the car from a safety aspect.

Poor jag, they'd only had it over month.

No one likes cruelty to Jags! :)

That looks like a fine deal you got there Mark.

I grant you the XJ is big, 10mm short of 5.1m long, so depending on the parking facilities it can be a bit if a handful in park, especially if your parking sensors have mysteriously stopped working like mine have.

However, the XJ is actually slightly more economical than the S-Type, because it weighs less, the 3 litre XJ6 weighs less than the 3 litre S-Type ...as it's aluminium bodied rather than steel, one would also assume therefore it's a touch more sprightly.

How's the gearbox in that S-Type Mark, is it as smooth as it should be etc ?

I'm considering moving my XJ on in a few months or so, but don't really want to part ex it again and get shafted by a dealer, I'd rather try my hand at a private sale which I have never done with a car, done it with lots of computer hardware though so I guess it's a step along from that :p ...but I will of course be looking for a replacement car, very possibly/probably another Jag.

My XJ is the previous model 3.2 sport so its not Aluminium. What sort of MPG do the 3.0 cars get?

I love an S-type. I find them incredibly beautiful. They are expensive here. Yours looks lovely but I have a preference for the interior being cream or lighter coloured.

Moeks the gearbox is fine on this one, they had sorted out the gearbox "lurch" by 2004 as far as i know.

BIGWEB I never check MPG but i suppose 20 round town ish probably 30 odd on a run, fuel consumption aint my strong point it must be said.

The 3 litre X350 XJ gives about 25mpg combined, I can get 32mpg on a good run.

Hey now a quick browse on Piston Heads has turned up http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2348773.htm ...looks nice, good price for the diesel too, black on black and nice wheels. Hmmm, down your way too Mark.

Big spec on that one, Beck Evans the people selling it been around a long time too.

Sold this morning for 4k to a fella and his wife, both over the moon, happy motoring :)

Nice :)

Off topic a bit here...but... when are jaguar going to release a nice modern v6 for the XF?

Great car, ruined a little IMO with the lack of engine choices.
