I am off to Australia in just over a week with work and the following week I am in Vietnam, this means I have a free weekend in Sydney.

So it's not that long but what should I do to make the most of the 2 days? Not interested in the bridge walk.

Cheers

how old are you? And what sorts of things would you like to do/ how much cash do you have.

Do you wanna sightsee, get drunk or other?

edit: p.s. I'm an aussie so I can probs help with the get drunk part dont know the sights though :p

Sydney for 2nights is prob 1 night to long. its easy to see everything worth seeing in a day IMO. Hunter valley and blue mountains etc etc are out of sydeny but are worth seeing.

you can do a da trip to hunter valley which is good if you like wine. L

just avoid the kings cross area at all co costs!

Ill be in Sydney from Wednesday evening, two days working then weekend before flying out to Vietnam on Monday morning.

Im 29 and figured this is probably the only time in my life I'll be there so want to make the most of it (Not saying no to drinking) but want to do as much as I can whilst I'm there. Blue mountains looked good and a boat trip out Manly.

You could visit Darling Harbour, there's an aquarium, a wildlife centre, naval museum , lots of nice restaurants & bars, jet boating iirc, there's also a ferry stop where you could hop on around to Circular Quay to see the opera house. Or there's a monorail that will take you into the the city centre or chinatown which is full of restaurants with some really tasty chinese food

There's Taronga zoo, the Sydney tower , Bondi beach, Coogee beach, you could go diving (although not if you're flying soon after)

if you're feeling really flush you could do a helicopter trip to the Blue Mountains

From a touristy point of view I would go with make a big night of either sat/sun night (depending on how you like your nights out kings cross can be good) and then my choice would be get out of Syd for a day trip on sat and try and find something at the opera house for sunday if you don't want to be to ruined for work.

Feel free to make fri and sat big nights and recover sun nights depending on preference though.

Thanks for the ideas, my mate has just got back from travelling and did a Sky dive there, the missus didnt seem to keen on me doing that though :p

Diving could be an option for the Saturday I guess - will have to look into that.

Recovery won't be a problem as I have the whole on Monday for that, its 8.5hrs to Ho Chi Minh City where I will be for the following Friday and Sat (that will be another post I fear!)

Remember to allow enough time between diving and flying. :)

You'll have no problem finding enough to do for 2 days - it's just a case of planning ahead (which you're doing) to make sure you make the most of it.

Loads to do/see/eat around the harbour area, so that would be my first suggestion, particularly if you don't feel like travelling far given you'll be doing plenty of that anyway.

For me anyways I would deff go for the diving (having my divers licence and loving the water), no spots are all that special, I don't think, around that area but being summer its never a bad idea to be in the water :p

My advise though would be head out fri and sat nights and organise something to do both days as well before hand to make you get out of bed and make the most of each day ;)

Wednesday evening go to the Three Wise Monkeys
Thursday, head to the zoo in the morning and then take a ferry to Manly and spend the afternoon/evening there.
Friday take a trip round Sydney and head up the Sydney Tower to see the city at some point.
Over the weekend just chill a bit, maybe head over to the Blue Mountains if you want to wander a bit, otherwise head to Bondi Beach and relax for a while.

Wow Thurs and Fri will be the least productive days he has ever had at work then :p

Unless I misunderstood, I think he arrives wed night, works thurs, fri and has the weekend free? amiright or umad?

Boat trips are pretty relaxing and serve up some of the best grub. You relax whilst having a "much" on some grilled seafood whilst they tell you all about the area.
Also some good coach trips out to various places.
Wildlife parks, Mountain ranges and also city trips talking about the history of the place. That was quite interesting

I wouldn't quite agree with this, boat trip would be a tad boring for me although the seafood in Australia is win!

Moreton bay bugs are honestly almost as good as if not better than anything, also the oysters are like a zillion times better than here in the UK aswell..

Oh yeah, misread the whole Thursday and Friday at work bit :o
Still, I reckon you could squeeze that stuff into a weekend if you don't mind a bit of travelling.

taranga zoo is good, you geta ferry to it, and that way you'll see the harbour area also, and see a view from the other side of the opera house, which is worth a tour, or instead one evening after work, go see a concert.
