I know it sounds obvious, but perhaps because I was being lazy I thought I'd give it a go. One BSOD and many uninstall/reinstalls later I was left with 800:600 resolution and had to system restore to fix the issue. Just don't try it.

I've installed new drivers through Steam many times and it's been perfectly fine for me, same for friends too.

Won't work for me on steam, but I think it's more down to the fact that I use hybrid phys-x. When steam first done it, I just got a message saying updating drivers but it just sat there for about an hour doing nothing.

I'm sure it's worked for plenty of people fine, or else they'd remove it, but from my experience I will steer clear from now on and go back to just installing them manually.

I also had problems when i let "windows update" update my drivers by mistake...

I installed new AMD drivers through Steam just the other night and it went smoothly, just as it always does. Very convenient. Highly recommended.
