Advice on a very short stay in Moscow

Basically, I'm getting a connecting flight to Havana, in Moscow, and have about six and a half hours between when I land at 5:30am, and depart at 12:05pm. I have always really wanted to visit the Kremlin, and after looking on Google maps, I have found out that it would take roughly an hour to drive there.

Is there anybody that here, that has been to Moscow, that could let me know if there's any way of getting to see it that early in the morning? And if so, whether the risk of traffic would be too great, to be worth doing it? I quite like the idea of catching a Russian cab, but, being the cultural retard that I am, I have no idea about any of the above.

Thanks a lot. :)

public transport is excellent in Moscow (well it was the last time i was there) it's worth while seeing the Kremlin, certainly an experience. I got chucked out when we were looking a Lenin (they dont like you talking).

I went down to Yekaterinburg in that city the buses run from 5am so I would have thought they must run from that time in Moscow.

Encouraging, thank you.

As for the visa... I believe mine only covers Cuba, as I'm only passing through Russia, so do you think the likelihood of me being able to actually enter Moscow is rather low?

Without a visa, you won't get past immigration. They are very strict. When I've had to get visas to go to Russia I needed to go to the consulate in Edinburgh. I don't think you're going to have much luck.

Thinking about it, 6 hours isn't enough time anyway. It takes ages to get through all the immigration and luggage reclaim (but I suppose your bags will be loaded onto the next plane) and then it'll take ages to go the other way through security. 2 hours travel each way, will take an hour at the very least (assuming it isn't busy) each way to get through the airport. Really wouldn't risk it.

Oh, but Dememememedevdevedev airport has beer vending machines which is awesome!

Ok, thanks for your advice. I knew it would be tight, regardless, but thank you for potentially helping me catch my connecting flight. :p
