Hey All

Usually when I clean my Megahalems, I use compressed air or a rocket blower. This gets most of the dust out but I have noticed lately that there are some wads of dust in there that I just cannot get out. I was wondering if it was safe to run the heatsink under some water and dry it with a hairdyer or something? The obvious worry is rusting, but I dont know how likely this actually is?

Thanks

It's nickel plated copper so it won't rust. You should be ok if you keep water away from the base/thermal compound.

Yep, i use the shower on power setting for cleaning mine, give it a blast with a hair dryer and put it in the airing cupboard overnight. I dont think rust would be a problem due to the coating on the heatsink. I cleaned my old TRUE black like this as well and never had any issues with rust.

Ah great. Tonight then I shall that it out the PC and give it a good clean and leave it overnight. I seem to be getting higher temps at load then I would like to even at lower volts then other people. I assume its the heatsink playing up a little.

When i read that all i could think of was somebody showering with a Megahalems...

Smeaney: "What you doing Setter?"
Setter: "Im am just taking a shower, cleaning my 'supermega'...shall I get your megahalems out and clean that too?"
