Hi guys,

Taking a girl out for a meal near the West End. Any suggestions on a nice place to eat? Willing to pay £150/200 on a meal for 2.

Thanks!

Drossla.

I quite like Chez Gerrard, only been to the Southbank one - there is one in Covent Garden though. Atmosphere was nice and quiet, maybe a bit dull but that might be what you're after.

At £100 a head the best of London is within budget, some of the best below. All are in Covent Garden, Soho or Mayfair

Most if not all will do some form of pre theatre menu if that interests you. Should give you a few choices. Its worth looking at Square Meal, Top Table, London Eating and Urbanspoon but take the reviews with a pinch of salt. Cheese and Biscuits and London Eater are my two favourite London food blogs, worth looking at if your in town often, they have some great cheap gems.

Off that list I'd heartily recommend Goodman - best steak house in town I reckon. Other than that, Arbutus is very nice too.

The Ivy sounds ideal :)
I've never been, but to me it's never appealed. By all accounts the food is ok, but it seems rather like you're paying to go 'celeb' (note the 's) spotting, rather than enjoy a decent meal. It just seems.. touristy to me.

xarr has posted a good list, not that I've been to anyone of them either :p I do walk past Yuatcha every day and that looks amazing. The food looks stunning. That seems like an experience for sure.
