It's a wonderful thing to do for somebody, but to do it for your own daughter would just be....weird!

If that kids classmates find out......poor kid!

Didn't read the article. Assuming the daughter is raising it and the grandmother was just a surrogate then I don't see a problem with this. I can't imagine it would be any more difficult than explaining to a child why they have two daddies/two mummies.

It's not really. It's not like the son-in-law ****ed the mother-in-law so she got pregnant. The embryo was made with the son and daughters egg and sperm and then put into the surrogate for the gestation period.

She was a surrogate, no weird relationships etc, just a straight forward affair that happens for hundreds maybe thousands of cases.

I think it's a wonderful thing to do for her daughter - she's only the surrogate, there's no confusion to be had for the child, the grandmother is still the grandmother.

I think keeping surrogacy in the family must make it easier in some ways - the surrogate still gets to see the child regularly and the wannabe parents already know the person who will be carrying their child really well.
