I'm looking to replace my Focus 1.8 TDCi with a larger family car.
I don't want an MPV, so an estate or 4x4.

I like decent spec levels, so wanting cruise control, AirCon/Climate etc.

Budget, around £15-16k.
Diesel, but with a decent(ish) performance, say 0-60 in 10ish or less
Suitable for 2adults and twin babies (plus associated baby carp).
Would like something 4yrs or newer and not with moon milage.

So, thoughts? Examples?

Looks like I'm off to buy a Mondeo Estate then! :) Thought Fox would try and sell me a 5series tourer at least :)

for that criteria I'd be checking out

Volvo V50 R-Design
Skoda Octavia Vrs
Ford Mondeo Titanium x

How many miles are looking to do per year as petrol versions of the Mondeo and most of the above cars can be had for 1.5-2k cheaper than the equivalent diesel so unless your doing huge mileage the cost savings don't really work out

Pretty much agree with Castiel, you just have to make sure you get the right engine and trim level.

The 2.2 tdci will happily return 45 mpg (indicated via the onboard computer) on a motorway run but I only get around 35 on shorter journeys, although I do have a very heavy foot with it.

the V50 won't offer much above my focus though, it needs to be the mondeo/vectra size.
iirc, the V50 is based on the focus chassis.

I'm doing 15-18k a year, work and pleasure... well as pleasurable as driving with twins is! :)
