Hi,

I have a Samsung LED TV, C6000 which has a LAN port on the rear panel.
I would like to conect this TV to the inter and takes advantage of its extra features.
From what I can see from the Samsung website it has mainily info App's, i.e weather, Finance, etc, plus YouTube, Flicker, and BBC iPlayer.

Has any one got a samsung TV hooked up to the web and is it any good ! ?

I have it hooked up on a 7000 series. I mainly use the networking for playing content from my PC over wifi, and while the Internet television works, there is nothing on there I really use because its just easier to go on my laptop instead.
Now if there was a browser, and I could get iplayer on it (I am outside of the UK) then it would be much more useful.

There are some social networking apps, Twitter, FB etc, some video apps, Skype (+video with an optional cam) news and weather, stocks, games, google maps and just recently they have added some kids apps with reading aids, songs and games, which are quite nice but very limited.

Its certainly a cool feature to have, but not all that useful with the available apps at the moment. I hope more interesting ones are on the way.

Thanks Ezah, I was woundering if it was worth hooking up my TV to the internet. As I was hoping it would allow me to have BBC iPlayer. At the moment I use my Wii to view the iPlayer which is a slight stripped / lite version than the full web browser iPlayer.
Is it worth me going down the path to hook up my Samsung C6000 to the internet ! ?

well it costs nothing (unless you buy the wifi dongle - about 20 quid?) so you may as well do it just to see whats available. If you hook it up to your LAN you can then play the media content from your PC which is a really great feature in my opinion.
So with these 2 things in mind, then go for it.

Edit : I have read elsewhere that iplayer is an available app for Samsung TVs in the UK, so it would be good if this can be confirmed. I will have to wait until they launch the international version I guess as its not possible to connect the TV to the internet via a VPN, which is how I usually access iplayer.

I think you'll be waiting a while then, iPlayer is intended for the UK only.

I was going to buy a NetGear 4 port hub power adapter plug that uses the house power cables as a LAN network. So I was going to connect the Wii, Samsung TV, Apple TV or LG Smart ST600, and a future PVR like a Pansonic FreeSat Blue ray player/burner.

yes, appreciate that its UK only, but check this link
I can live with them having some commercials on it. I just hope its not a pay-to-view setup. If this is then launched as a Samsung app it will make this capability way more appealing.

So BBC iPlayer going international !
Well if it has adverts and its then free, ..well that must be the best option really !
