Hi folks! First time in here so be easy :D

Been offered an 60' LG Full HD 1080p Plasma for £750 it's around 4 months old, now I have a 42' Samsung LCD 1080P and fancy buying it!!

Are they any good I mean LG and the PQ any thing to write home about?

Model number LG 60PK590

Would be greatfull if anybody has it and can post some info, looked the business playing a BluRay, it blew me back!

It's a good saving over brand new so I say got for it so long as you trust the source. I assume they warranty is transferable?

Its a very good saving! Now then I am not sure about the warranty, I persume the TV will come with somesort of manufactures warranty?

Yes, but often they're not transferable. If it's someone you know, you could always go through them in the event of any issues.

Thats true :) Friend is having a bit of a scale down so wants rid and a smaller set needed. I offered him mine as PX but he said no :D! So £750 is a bargain?

it is what is, bargain TV that sells because its cheap for the size.

If you're happy with that fill your boots

But it does mention several image quality issues in the review.

The 50" pk590 (which I own) is a superb tv ... in fact bang for buck its hard to beat and the 60" at that price is all the sweeter.

If its not a Panasonic this forum is not happy. I own a 50PK590 as DirtyJester does and I am chuffed to bits every single time I sit down to watch it. If you don't buy it please pass on the details so I can.

you said it yourself - one of its key appeals is that its good bang for buck

Without price, it would pale into insignificance when compared with the likes of the panaasonics. If this doesnt bother you, then fine. But i'd rather buy smart, or buy smaller, and have better picture quality.

in short ...

No

Review of the 50 " version to give you a better idea

The guy asked if it's any good and the answer to that question is YES, he didn't ask if it's the best you can buy price no object.

Irrespective of price it puts out a very respectable picture and the colour reproduction is fantastic, it's a TV that punches well above it's weight.

I really wish you would stop getting your 'knowledge' from on-line reviews / wikipedia and spurting it on the internet as gospel.

From what I've seen of the PX990 (it's predecessor and better) it's a 'good' tv for the money but the Panasonic which admittedly is £500 more outperforms it in SD and HD.

Ignore online reviews, I've found them to be lacking accuracy or it could be a case of the manufacturers send out 'better than production' models.

Spending a day with the tv in question and making sure it suits YOU is the only way to go.

What? That's exactly what the guy is asking? If it's a good buy for the price, which it bloody well is if it's a reliable source (I'd be funny about spunking that much on a second hand TV unless I could 100% trust the person).

What would you buy for £750 then? To get the equivalent Panasonic it would be double the price! Yes they're better, everyone knows they're better, but they cost a damn sight more and that's why they're better!

I wouldn't buy any for £750, as i said already, my preference would be for smaller size and better IQ.

I'm waiting on the new VT30 panny, which will likely be twice that price for a 42" screen.

I've already told him he should fill his boots if he's happy buying a bargain TV. Nothing wrong with it, just not for me thats all :)

Well I bought it and got around 2 years warranty too!!! Totally chuffed isnt the word :D Can't wait for the Football in HD tonight! He bought a Kuro? (SP) Meant to be the best Plasmas on the block according to him, and he hand on heart was not too impressed with the PQ compared to the LG plasma, he was expecting it to be much much better! I am well over the moon, the PQ playing a BluRay is breathtaking and at 60' its like been in the film!
