Me and the gf are looking for ideas. If you could go anywhere in the world for 2 weeks where would it be?

We want to go somewhere pretty special, long haul, wow factor with plenty to do. :)

BTW we are planning a 6 week Thailand island hopping holiday in the future so that will be a no go for this holiday.

I can go anywhere in the world and this year I've decided to go back to the USA again. So I guess thats my answer. To be honest I don't think it'll be as good as last years, so thats what I'll recommend - rent yourself a Mustang and road-trip California.

There are places I'd rather go but not with only 2 weeks.

Hmmm...

Trip through the Amazon jungle or maybe Patagonia/peruvian Desert.

Or proper Safari in Africa.

I've always loved to go to Australia and tour around the country :)

With 2 weeks this is a tragic waste of a trip - his time period is the limiting factor here and you cant tour Australia in 2 weeks. I did it in 6 weeks and still felt like I hadn't seen enough :)

been to america twice, would go again.

Been to Australia 4 times, would go again.

Been other places like Tennerife and stuff that werent really amazing. Oz and USA stood out.

If i could only have 2 weeks for a holiday then I'd like to spend it on a cruise either around the Mediterranean or around Scandinavia. If you are limiting yourself to only 2 weeks then its a great way of seeing loads of different cities and cultures in a short space of time. Plus you get the luxury of being able to take on however much luggage you want, get great food and entertainment, no need to fly (unless you want to). Cant wait to go on a cruise again.

If I had 6+ weeks then I'd love to do Hong Kong, bits of China and Japan and then more bits in NZ and Aus.

If you don't mind the language barrier, somewhere in East Asia - Japan? Hong Kong? Singapore? South Korea? All fantastic and safe countries that have thrived economically, each with so much to take in and do. If I had the dorrars, I'd definitely go there.

The good ol' US of A is always a safe bet too - 52 states to choose from, each with its own charm (or lack thereof, we're looking at you, South Carolina!). I thought San Francisco was fantastic and would definitely go back to see more of the sunshine state at some point. :)

Asia was one of my must visits destinations.

I just got back from my honeymoon and to be honest I think the whole are is over rated. Dont get me wrong, I had a lot of fun but I found the hotels and food to be far more enjoyable in america.

I did my dream holiday last year in Egypt.

7 day Nile Cruise taking in all the Temples on the way plus Abu Simbel.
3 days in Cairo and spending 2 hours inside the Great Pyramid.
5 days in Hurhada trying to relax but ............

Icelandic Volcano made it so we had to spend another week in Luxor where we went on 4 more trips to temples plus a day Nile Cruise up to Dendera.

Absolutely bloody amazing holiday and I can die happy.

Two weeks isn't enough to come to this side of the world.

I know someone that while in Aus was offered the chance to go to see Uluru (Ayers Rock to anyone who doesn't know) and gave the reply "no thanks, I've seen it on a postcard."

Maybe not the best place to visit yet, wait until the dust settles ;)

California is my favourite place in the world, hence why i will be going there for a third year running this year in all likelihood. Perfect mix of everything for me.

Some good suggestions here. Its really helpful to get other ideas. California > Vegas > SF in a mustang convertible is going to happen for sure in the future but I'm looking for a more realxing break now if I'm honest.

I don't like the idea of being stuck around a pool and a beach for the whole duration, we like seeing things and taking in sights, particularly natural beauty.

The reason Im staying away from Thailand/Vietnam and the rest of Asia is because thats something I want to do as a travelling holiday when I've got more time to spare.

We like the idea of a Safari (I think) but that would then mean a twin centre holiday as it wouldn't be particulalry relaxing. Currently looking at Kenya > Zanzibar at the moment but know nothing about either place :o

Keep them coming!
