BMW 520D SE - what do you reckon???

Grey is so boring. But then the F10 only comes in grey. Or grey. Or grey.
Oyster is very light, so have fun keeping that clean :D

Not many Sophisto greys about - very few - indeed, I have never seen one out and about on the roads yet. Space Grey yes. Titanium Silver yes. Sophisto is only just off black and is brilliant and sparkly. And all the same, I still love the Beemer greys and Silvers. All about personal choice, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that.

Oyster is fine. Got that color now on a 3'er on madam's car. But black carpets and lower interior trim, hence Oyster/BLACK. Secret is a little bit of maintenance regularly on the oyster leather. Ten minutes a fortnight with Autoglym leather cleaner especially on the drivers seat. Job done. Even with my two little ones it is fine. Well worth a bright and airy interior for the sake of ten minutes a week IMO. :D

Business Navigation uses the same screen, Professional navigation has a wider screen in place of the standard screen.

Either way - its insanely expensive. That's why the base car can be subsidized IMO by those paying these extortionate prices for the options. Hence me not bothering, I will be looking into retro fit solutions.

But on the used market the car is worth less without the nav. Off the top of my head a high end 3 Series for example is worth £2000 without Professional Navigaiton..

And you cant retrofit nav into an F10 without using the BMW kit meaning you might as well just spec it!

Not my problem mate - company car ;)

Yes, but there are threads on the web that show how this can be done. I might not do it anyway since i have a great top of the range TomTom. Its just too expensive on the tax code IMO over the 3 year life cycle of the car to justify. For me anyway, other folks have their own set of priorities and good for them.

For me the Beemer in basic 520D SE form is still a fabulous car.

The business navigation comes with a 7” screen and 2D route maps. Professional comes with a 10.2” split screen display, hard disc navigation, 2D route maps, satellite view and 12GB for music and voice control. The professional is expensive but it really is one of the options to have.

Absolutely, it's a no brainer if you take the Media Package which also gives you 6FL (Until it was made standard) and Voice Control. And a CD changer I beleive

The only ridiculous thing is that in todays world where a 1Tb HDD is £40, you get... 12gb in your £50,000 car.

Nice one BMW.

not like anybody could need more than 12gb is it ?

Has anybody ever taken one apart and see what actual HD is used ?

Only reason i mention is that for our customers with older legacy kit we're having real trouble getting older smaller discs to replace ones that fail and are covered by one of our maintenance plans ?

Our solution, just take a bigger one from stock and only format the portion of the drive they actually pay for. Resulting in people getting 74gb drives, but only formatting 4gb of it etc..

If only they knew ...

It does make you wonder if it is possible to swap the HDD out ala SkyHD boxes etc, no doubt it must be some sort of standard media type?

Oops, echoed you MrLOL without reading. Its a thought though.

Can't be that hard can it? I'd imagine most modern cars use a standard SATA connector & drive.... Interesting stuff (not that I have much use for it in my aged e39 mind you!) :o

Perhaps the F10 is SSD :p

Do we have any idea how BMW might improve this car for its LCI? I just can't begin to see what they would do other than make options standard, such as rear spoiler, media package, etc

A front end facelift is the easy one. Still am not convinced by that angle.
