I've got this PSU (Corsair 430W) and am wondering if it will power a Radeon HD 6850 alright?

All the charts I've seen and online power consumption calculators I've used seem to say it will be fine in terms of Wattage but is there anything else I need to consider?

I didn't have a job when I bought the PSU and now that I work full time I have more cash to spend so want a nice gfx card to go with my shiny new U2311H :)

OC'ed CPU with £30-£40 aftermarket CPU cooler and OC'ed 6850 should be fine on a 430w PSU of decent repute.

With a little headroom for extra HDDs and fans if you need them.

Okay, feeling good about the 6850, thanks for the replies.

Can you afford anything better than the 6850?

The PSU will be fine with plenty of headroom for further upgrades and overclocking.

Could I go much higher than a 6850 do you think? I don't want to spend more than necessary, my res is 1920 x 1080 and I thought the 6850 looked good bang-for-buck at around £140ish. I do game, but not a lot, I'd be playing company of heroes and HL ep1 and 2 and whatever else I picked up in the steam sales in anticipation of this rig :D They're pretty old tho, I suppose it would be nice to play diablo 3 on max, and the witcher 2.... I'm just rambling now and need to go to work!

6850 should be ok at that res for most games.

I'm quite confident that Blizzard will work its magic and Diablo will be fine on it. Reckon Witcher too.

However, don't expect max for all games. Especially some upcoming ones.

If you're looking to go beyond a 6850 (even a 6870) please definitely get a stronger PSU.
