Turning spotting off can be done on Softcore servers too though. I found it made for a drastically improved game but its been months since i last saw a server running it. Recon sensors were extremely helpful to a team, you couldn't just spot targets half the map away and fire at the red diamond, etc. Generally means you don't have to worry about the ridiculous way spotting works.

For some reason i just thought the ability to spot reduces the need for Recon sensors? With spotting turned off, Recon would have a big role in spotting players as well as the Recon scope.

Haven't played any BFBC2 for a couple of months, decided last night I'd like to get back into it, so after waiting ages for the updates to download 2or3 GB I think, I entered the game only to find my account not recognised!

Phoned EA today who said it had been deleted! Finally managed to get it retrieved but all stats have reset to zero, I was only lvl 13 or 14 but it still narks me having to start from scratch again.

For my trouble they gave me a free activation code for Vietnam, tried a couple of maps, looks ok.

Anyone know how I can get my stats back? cheers.

They can't do that, surely?

Maybe a system glitch at their end, apparently they have been having problems with the stats servers lately. I Don't think it was deliberately deleted, I mean you only have to watch me play to see I'm no hacker!

the recon scope just press Q automatically for lazy as **** snipers who can't see what they're shooting (i'll spot people in bushes the retards can't see.

Tbh if the spot scope just added whoever was in the scope you the minimap (like a long range sensor ball) it would be much better.

Recon using spotting scope and is over rank 7 (so would have other unlocks in that slot) = noob and don't worry about them, keep moving they'll never hit you.

Not being able to spot, lower health - how is this for noobs?

:)

low health means you can just sit and spray from the hip and rack up an insane amount of kills because you only have to glance them to kill them where as normal you have to hit consistently for 3 shots (or one ;)).

But Hc just turns into a camp fest so meh.

I'd have thought turning spotting off would make recon sensor and scope completely useless?

Recon sensors work on Hardcore. You can chuck them ahead and bring up the m map or the 'escape' map and it will reveal players positions. Handy on occasion but really awkward. With the minimap still being there on softcore they'd still be useful even if spotting was off. Would be nice really since spotting was very badly done, what with your EXACT position been lit up even if you can barely be seen and even in cases where you can't be seen.

yeah but evil in hc you're camping so you throw your sensor just behind you so when scoped in it beeps and you know to scope out and cover yourself.

Also I'm sure you can just tap tab and it brings up the mini map along with the score screen, so as long as you are quick you can easily use it.

edit: nvm looks like that is fixed.

In my experience HC just promotes a safer style of play. And HC rush is almost impossible for the attackers to win, I understand why people like it but personaly I feel the spotting gameplay mechanic is what seperates battlefield from other games.

I was playing L4D 2 with a friend at the weekend and kept trying to spot the zombies with Q :p

Having not played for a while, I cannot comment really. I just enjoyed playing HC more than normal mode. I hated filling someone with a mag of bullets only for them to knife me :(

But part of the enjoyment came from playing with fellow TFU members. And flying helicopters into trees! Lol!
