Need to get rid of the sub and use 2 floorstanders

Well i need to get rid of the sub as it is just to much overkill for the room now. My plan is to sell the sub use the 2 front Kef eggs as side speakers and go for some floorstanders for a bit of bass fill.

Ok im not going to get some of the rumble but, apart from that are there any other downsides?

Also what speakers? I have a pair of Mission 753 but could always buy something newer/better. What though?

If the room is a little small then a good pair of sealed speakers would work best against the rear wall.

I haven't had much experience, but my ATC SCM12 have amazing bass response and some people have commented on how good my sub is for music (whilst the sub is turned off

).

Not much help in the grand scheme of things but if you need speakers close to the wall then rear firing bass ports would be a no no.

Aren't SCM12's somewhere iro £1500 though? Dealing with a different level of performance completely compared to more modestly priced speakers.

Results will depend on CS||nuTs' budget. I'd be very tempted to look at something secondhand - perhaps even fronts & centre - which should double the performance from the available budget compared to new.

Damn just sold some KEF Q4 floorstanders, worth £400, sold em on eBay for £120 inc postage. Only used for a month then put them into storage, so were like new, not even run in. Shame you didnt post sooner I would have given you a good price if you were interested.

Having more than 1 Sub source can lead to room modes, so often having a single sub 100hz source will give better results.

Careful placement of your floorstanders can get around this however...

Thats a pity I had loads of problems with the buyer,1st he put in a dispute about my postage price of £25, it cost me £23 after that he complained that there were no cables supplied, no English manual, no bungs for air vents and then he made a PayPal dispute because I had changed the spikes for better Atlas ones which were not original KEF. In the end PayPal said for us to sort it out between ourselves, he had 28 days to return them, at his expense, on the 26th day he paid up and kept them.
