150k mileage on a honda civic 2006

Why would he need to?

Because thats pretty much how much they are worth.

The first 1.8 litre Vtec honda I put in to autotrader comes up with a 2006 car, with 50,000 less miles and £20 cheaper.

£500 more buys him a car with 70,000 miles.

£600 buys him a car with 24,000 miles, all 2006 cars.

A 24k mile Civic on an 06 plate for £5500? You can probably hear it barking from here given TRADE book on that car is £6500. You could bang it through auction and get loads more than £5.5k on an 06 with 24k miles on it so if you dont mind I'll pass on the chance to buy a 'low mileage' example for at least £2k under what you'd expect it to be advertised at!

Haven't you just rebuilt the engine on it? Or am I thinking of the ZS

The ZS. And that was because Mr Stupid here didn't use a proper clip on the pipe to a boost controller... cue 30-35psi of boost (off the scale on the gauge) and insta-HGF! Head lift, cylinder contents emptied into the cooling system = epic mess.

Next time I'll spend the 50p on hose clips... :D

You've never picked up a bargain?
My last car was £2000 below book, still going strong with no expense 4 years later.

The legacy turbo i bought privately in 1995 (3years old) was 8 grand. should have been nearly 11 from a dealer.
I should listen to you more often.
No wait......

Sounds like you have been lucky twice, cars well below book price are usually nails

Good idea, lets take a general line that he shouldnt buy the car and instead should seek out a low mileage minter for £2k under book.

Because it's a Chrysler Neon, a car that literally nobody wants. Whereas a low mileage current shape Honda Civic is a popular used car you can sell all day long without issues.

You should not have said thattt!!!! :p

I keep having to stop myself quoting my silly mile 5 series for fear of just this.... :o:D

Low miles "minter" or high mile "minter", to my mind, theres no difference bar the price.

Depends how long you want to keep it, if its for a few years, I'd always opt for the higher mile car & spend what would have depreciated on the lower mile car running the higher mile one, plus, I'm quite sure,I would have a bit left for for myself.

I think that makes sence? :o

How many has your 5 series racked up? :D

i dont care about jinxing it. the car never fails!

my golf is on 227k. i honestly thought the bottom end was going, went underneath to investigate, turned out to be the cat falling apart spectacularly.

the cat is now gutted, the car sounds peachy

the mk3 was clearing 25k annually for the first few years but that slowed down dramatically in the last 18 months due to owning other cars, gf having a car, and then getting her the mk4 last year as i think i started to grow out of coilovers, poly bushes, the whole generally inhospitable environment, so loads of the miles get dumped on that car now

guys, i didn't buy that 150k milage car, so i've waited and found some1 else selling a better car "2.2 Ex Diesel 2006 95k on the clock" for £5.8k

what do i need to prepare for buying a high milage car?
