Curious about the most practical card for 1920 x 1080 resolutions.

I do not care about benchmarks as they don't bring me anything.

What cards could max out games like:
MW2
Black Ops
Farcry
Crysis

my HD6850 does pretty damn well at 1920x1080 res with max on most things, only game i have played out of those was COD:MW2 and that seemed to be ok.

I went for a 6970 to ensure a bit of future proofing this year. Who knows what Crysis 2 will bring or any of the other games yet to be released. I dont intend on replacing my card for a year or 2 so wanted that little bit of extra whilst I could afford it.

my HD6850 plays crysis 2 on max settings at 1920x1080 without any issues.
i think its more down to budget, go for the best in your budget.
for £114 i cant complain, but if you have £250-£500 to spend then im sure you will get something that will give you a lot higher FPS, but i havent noticed any lag in thing like lost planet 2 in dx11 mode with everything maxed, so even if i am only getting 30-60FPS, it doesnt affect the game for me, maybe im just not fussy :o

same res I run @ and the 470 I use maxes out everything. problems arise when I up the AA, but not sure if thats related to vram because according to afterburner im only utilising 600 odd MB in just cause 2.

GTX560 if you prefer NVidia, 6950 if AMD rocks your boat. Both are ideal for that resolutions and cost similar ammounts.

If you like a more reasonable price, the GTX460 is hard to beat at £130. It may not max out everything at 1920x1080, but it will max most stuff and get pretty close with the remainder. 6850 is also a good budget option.

Tut tut you've been naughty

EDIT: Changed my post - assuming you mean the original farcry then except for black ops anything from an 8800GTX upwards would give you playable fps with max settings at 1920x tho crysis would really need more like 200 series SLI or 48xx CF for reasonable fps. Black Ops runs badly on anything due to poor coding.

It's rude not to pirate?

not technically piracy as its not for sale at the moment, and, i can hand on heart say, before i played it i would not have bought it as i thought it was all hype (never played crysis), but now i have played the beta, my game voucher will def be going towards me buying it. yes its wrong, but it have made me want to purchase it.
