Hi, what's the best thermal paste for 2600k?

I used the paste that come with the noctua D14 but I'm getting high temps. Maybe a better paste will lower them.
:)

how high? are you sure its fitted correctly?

as fancy thermal paste will only knock 3-5 degreesC off.

Isn't the paste that comes with the Noctua one of the better ones anyway?

As mentioned already, I'd check if the cooler is on correctly and not loose :D

I'm running a D14 on a 2600k (with the paste that came with it). What are your temps/what programs are you using to test and load the CPU?

I'm running it 4.6GHz. Just did a quick 5 minute run on Prime, and at the end of that according to CoreTemp the high temps on the cores ranged from 59C - 64C.

I have the speed restrictor thingie attached, so the D14 fans are running at their low rpm rate. Voltage for my CPU is 1.25 iirc. If you're running a higher voltage then that might account for the difference (as well as ambient room temp, it's what I'd call cool in my room).

ok im running a 2600K overclocked to 4.7GHz at 100% load in prime its showing 72C Max

so between you two, the difference could easily be explained by the actual case and fan airflow.

Indeed, or a combination of that plus everything else mentioned adding up.

I only have a single 120mm fan at the front of the case atm, though it's an old large Coolermaster stacker that was always good at staying cool anyway.

I also have an i7-2600k running at 4.8ghz with 1.304 vcore, my full load prime temps are between 65c and 70c. Used the stuff that came with the cooler.

Ambient temps will also affect temps, can you tell us what vcore you are at?
