Killzone 3 Quick Look

I'm with you there friend. I'm really struggling to think of a game where the weapons have more of an audio impact, even the original Black can't hold a candle to Kz in that dept. I love the weighty feel of the guns as well, its those two things that just make you want to play the game even more!

is there a demo for this on psn

The single player demo was released for PS Plus a week or so ago. No idea if it's been opened up to everyone yet.

Quite impressive I thought, though if it's as short as has been mentioned, I'll wait for a price drop (multiplayer side holds no interest for me).

There is, although when I looked earlier it was only for Psn plus members which I think is ridiculous for a demo which to all intents and purposes advertises your game(and the same goes for MS too even though I'm a gold member - I still think its ridiculous some demos are timed exclusives to those who pay). Luckily the Usa store had it for free(and rightly so)although I'm not sure if the Uk store has been updated now for a free download.

That's heavily based on the player tbh and shouldn't be taken as gospel. I've had some games I've finished much sooner than most reviewers and some that have taken a lot longer than the average player. Besides, there's the added bonus of Multiplayer to look forward to(if that's your thing)and even if you're not into online you could always revisit it on a higher difficulty.

nah sorry, a 4.5hr SP cant be defended, if its a little longer than that then great, but even then its too short for a full price title. As i already said, i'll wait till its half price.

not having a go at you, just think that SP seems to be an afterthought with a lot of games lately, with seemingly far more effort being placed in the MP

Ramp it up to thehardest diffculty and should extend that sp time by a few more hours, espically if they have done what treyarch did with BOPs on vet and just made the mobs use hacks ( i know it wasnt hacks but after dying all the bloody time it felt like it)

Bit of a shame to read its only 5 - 6 hours of play... I'm not the quickest at FPS games so I might pick it up still..

I'm going to try, and I mean try and complete Killzone 2 this weekend. Fire it up, play it and hopefully complete before my PS3 dies again...!! lol

*breath* and *ahhh* yep, its only a console..!! lol Was annoying to see my killzone 2 save go again due to a dead PS3.. :(

I played the single player demo this morning and was impressed , gfx's look improved over k2 and plays well :) defo buying it but not sure how much i will play it online because i didnt play k2 hardly at all online either but thought the campaign was exellent .

Ah, they must have updated then. Good.

Oh no, no offence taken mate, I completely agree that Single Player seems more and more to become an afterthought in some games(Cod I'm looking at you)and have always thought Single Player should be the core of a game as everyone who buys it can play it from the off wheather they have internet or choose to go online or not, and Multiplayer if included at all should be a bonus to extend the life of the game and not the core element in the game itself.

However, in this case I think the game is good enough to warrant a purchase anyway and I can't wait for my copy to arrive.

I've got mine pre-ordered. Should have it next thursday:p
I'll be playing this online so a short SP campaign doesn't bother me really.

To be fair, if its 5 - 6 hours I might still pick this one up as it might mean I could actually finish it.. lol

I loved the demo, the graphics, sound and everything was excellent so whilst I'm sad about hearing its a short game, I think the quality should hopefully make up for it.. I'll just ramp up the difficulty - that'll make it last longer for me..:D

Usually the 5-6 hours is when you rush thru the game, usually I take it a bit slower and with dying so often I usually spend much longer playing the game.

According to others who have finished it the time relates to actual playing time, not including deaths, re-loads, cut scenes etc etc, and was prob rushed through on either normal or easy.

Well I die loads, cut scenes will add more time if you watch them and I'll play it on something harder then easy or normal etc that'll maybe double the time for me.. So, maybe 10 - 12 hours for me. Sold.!!:p

I'm getting it, I'll play it with the DS3 first, then with the move controller so, erm thats re-doubled my time.. So, maybe 20 - 24 hours playing with both control methods..

And, I'll maybe have a small crack at the MP... Don't sound so bad if the game is playable, looks good and has a good story etc... I remember my fav game on the SNES - Starfox, you could clock that in less then a few hours... lol

It all depends on the style of playing, some time ago I did a Fallout New Vegas Harcore speed run and was surprised it was possible to finish the game in under 2 hours

And one advantage of a short SP is that there will be loads on 2nd hand sites so I think I wil pick it up cheaply.

Campaign completion screens prove game duration
Killzone 3's review embargo lifted yesterday - NowGamer's verdict was an extremely respectable score of 8.7/10, but our colleagues over on games™ magazine were less taken with it, awarding 7/10 and citing the shooter's brief campaign as "just four-and-a-half hours of game time."
The reviewer's campaign completion screens (below) show that the time is accurate, with a first run-through completed on the normal difficulty setting - as displayed on the screens.
“Killzone 3's campaign can be completed in 4.5 hours...”
The reviewer completed each chapter in the following times:
A New Beginning - 6:44
Evacuation Orders - 21:23
Pyrrhus Evac - 33:18
Six Months On - 36:39
Icy Incursion - 50:59
Stahl Arms Infiltration - 29:03
Scrapyard Shortcut - 34:43
The Reckoning - 33:17
Interception - 27:18
That makes a grand total of four hours, 33 minutes and 40 seconds of campaign gameplay. As noted by the BBFC, Killzone 3 also includes 70 minutes of cut scenes, which would bring the full campaign experience up to five hours and 40 minutes.
Failing that, if you're no good at shooters or you play on the top difficulty setting it could last a deal longer. Check out the proof below.

should have put this link in a previous post, shame as it looks a smashing, but short game...

Am I a bad person for laughing at all those poor pirates downloading nearly 50Gbs of game solely for a 4.5hr SP. It makes my heart warm thinking about it :). Im undecided about my pre-order currently, Ive loved the Beta but unless I get into the MP in a big way (unlikely knowing me as Im never a person to play something 24/7 to stay ahead of the unlock curve) I just cant see the value...

How long was KZ2 on normal?

ps3ud0
