I'm currently on old, mismatched rubber that was on the car when I bought it.

With a handful of 200+ mile journeys coming up I want to replace them, as well as offside rear being advised its MOT. I'm currently looking at mid-range tyres as I'm not likely to push it hard enough to warrant premium brand tyres. The three I've narrowed it down to are:

Toyo 350
Yokohama A.Drive
Kumho KH17

IIRC the KH17 are quite a poor tyre compared to the KU31 which doesn't seem to be available in my size.

Currently on 155/80/R13s but I'm going upto 175/70/R13s

Had Yokohama A-Drive on the Mondeo a few years back. Seriously unimpressed with them, I think DRZ had the same opinion.

Can't comment on the others sorry.

Will see what I can get within the suggestions, should get them a fair bit cheaper than blackcircles too.

Yep 155/80/13 on a 1300cc Mk2 golf, I think the 14s we're on optional extra unless you had a 1.6 or GTI etc

Out of that list I think the Toyo are the best option IMO.

What prices has you been quoted for the each set?

or give the uniroyal rainexpert a look.

Please refrain from any form of trolling. I have just had to remove 20 posts from this thread.

The OP has asked for serious advise and the trolls just come and recommend some very poor tyres as a poor attempt at humour.

I would like to ask - why the hell are you talking about TW Fox. He hasn't even been in this thread.

And reposting a post that I had deleted.

Take a holiday! You know who you are.....

+1 for kumho ku31 instead of the kh17,
Great tyre at a great price, had 2 on the front recently to replace 2 bridgestone potenza's, quiter and better grip.

- apologies re-read OP's post, have you tried blackcircles?

Goodyear DuraGrip or Continental EcoContact 3, seems a pretty pricey size but I think I'd take those over the others in the OP.

I'd go for the uniroyal rainexpert personally.

A colleague of mine today, just replaced his slick Pirelli P6000's (he said it was a battle just keeping the car on the road lol) with Uniroyal Rain Sport 2.
They were £60 each (205/55/16) and he's said the difference was immense already - although coming from bald P6000's I'm sure the rims would have been grippier.

They get good reviews on tyrereviews website so maybe look into them?
Not sure if they the same as the Rainexperts in the quote

Those I listed we're the first 3 that came up on Blackcircles. Will give my local tyre fitter a ring later and see what they've got out of the ones recommended
