Hi, I want to order a 700W to 800W power supply for a new build and i keep reading about the different motherboard connections for the different boards.

Are all the PSU,s compatible with all the motherboards?

Thanks..

you normally (on new psu's anyway) get the old style 20pin (i think) connector with the 4pin addons, and then the 4pin cpu connector with an extra 4pin connector for mobos that need it.

think im right in the numbers, either way, yes, all new psu's should fit all mobos (unless you buy an ITX mobo)

Thats about it.

OK, but will they all be compatible with the higher end graphics cards? The dual card ones??

Thanks..

We really need to know what psu you are thinking off? to check if its good enough/right power range/connectors etc.

And also the spec intended?

your original post never mentioned anything about graphics. in answer, NO.
some will have no pci-e connectors, some will have 1 6pin pci-e, some will have 1 6pin pci-e with 2pin adaptor, some will have 1 6pin and 1 8pin....... so many combinations, so if its graphics card and not motherboard you are worried about then check both the specs of the card and the psu you are planning on buying.

Hi, I have a Haf X case, and i want to get the new I7 sandybridge when they sort it outm on a ASUS motherboard probably the pro. Also i will be using a new Vertex ssd for the opperaing system with 2 1Tb Samsung spinpoint drives for storage (got them too).
DVD burner. And a decent graphics card (£200ish).

The psu i was thinking of is the Coolermaster Silent pro 850W.
