Imported this on DVD after missing it at the local indie cinema...

I have to say I was really impressed. It was a great film-noir/detective story and the level of acting was pretty phenomenal for such a young cast, particularly Joseph-Gordon-Levitt.

It also left quite a lot to interpretation and didn't spell out all the answers (for example, there's a lot of debate about whose baby it was and what Carla's involvement in the plan was).

I was just wondering if other people had seen it yet, and if so what they thought?

Liked this a lot, clever and very impressed with Joseph who played a character who was so determined to get the truth he`d do anything.Couldn`t believe his brass neck lol.The dialogue was very quick at times so i`ll give this another watch sometime.Recommended.

i found the film to be most strange, was good but not outstanding. suppose it will grow on me after a 2nd viewing

As said above, I really liked it, but I think I'll like it even more after a second watch, first time round I was just like woah ;| !

I got it on DVD recently after seeing it in the cinema when it was initally out. It seems to get better each time. The first time you watch it, it takes a while to get your head around the odd dialouge. It depends a 2nd viewing with that in mind.

Just watched this the other night, great film! The cast performed excellently, the story was great... really enjoyable. It all came together so nicely at the end too.

I was thoroughly flummoxed at Tug's violent reaction to Dode at the sewer, at first I thought Tug had assumed Dode was the killer, but the next scene explained it and I was surprised. Surprise is quite rare in films these days :)

Good stuff indeed.

Epic bump, but can anyone answer the OP's questions? (watched this film last night).

I'm going to re-watch it, but yea, left me a little

Im not really a big film fan at all, however Brick is one of my favourite films of all time. I just love the way the whole thing is shot, the dialogue, the characters. I think all in all, one of the most interesting films made. Its definitely a film you have to watch more than once, and a few things become clearer.

The main thing I could never really understand, but yet obviously had some importance, was the car boot, that kept opening on its own, it happens a couple of times in the film. Im sure there is some 'deeper meaning' for this, I would just like to know what it is haha!

Yeah I forgot about that bit, perhaps it's just some kind of odd diversion. It's a cracking film, just a little confusing :/

Thats because when Brenden was in the boot to go to the house the first time he broke it open to see where he was. Then every time after that when you saw the car the boot randomly pops open cause its still broken :)

Oh yeah, I know why it was broke, but I meant, there is an obvious directorial decision to show the boot opening when the car would stop, on more than one occasion. I just wondered why the director felt this was important.
