All you end up with is x=x or y=y (or close enough, it's obviously been rounded to 2 s.f.).
If you graph them both, they're basically the same line:
y = 1.62x
y = (1/0.62)x
So your values would be along that line somewhere, I guess? Not sure what you mean by "Need a pair of values from the set of values for x and y."
x=1, y=1.62?
x=2, y=3.24?
Math or Maths are both correct as the word they are a colloquialism for, Mathematics, is both singular and plural.
Your spelling it wrong, this is why.
Castiel that is blindingly obvious. But in what country is each colloquialism applicable is the real question.
Hang on... how do you have a single mathematic?
