What is a cheapish cooler, that will overclock an i5 2500k to a reasonable degree? I just need something pretty decent, but not something that breaks the bank. I was looking at the arctic cooling freezer 7 rev 2, is that a good idea?

i've got the freezer 7. very happy with it.

can't comment overclocking an i5 2500k, but i have oc'd my phenom ii x4 965be to 4ghz with no problems.

was easy to fit as well. doesn't cover any ram slots with my xms3 ram:)

Also, the freezer 7 is amazingly quiet. At 80% it is much quieter than the stock that it replaced at 30%.- you will not be dissapointed for £20 that's for sure!

Nice looks like I'll go with that then. I've never installed an aftermarket cooler before, do you just attack the suitable bracket and screw it in after thermal paste? Because I don't think it has a support plate behind the motherboard.

it has 2 sets of screws. one for amd, the other for intel. you also have a bracket for attatching it to intel boards. I attatched it to an AM3 board so don't really know about intel, sorry.

The heatsink has arctic mx-2 thermal paste already on it, so i didn't bother changing it. Does the job!

Thanks everybody, I think i'll go for the freezer 7 then, since it's a lil cheaper than the 212 but seems to do well enough :) thanks for the installation help pighardia, nice to know it has preapplied paste :)

Dont attack the bracket, what has it ever done to you?

The ACF7 is a bit outdated now, saying that my sons PC's use them, but there are better CPU coolers around the same price.
