I used to have an a4 size intuos3 was amazing

serious the intuos range is fantastic. had to sell it before I came to Canada but when i'm back I'll bet getting an intuos4.

they're not cheap, but they're worth it

I have the Wacom CTE-450 Bamboo Fun Medium Pen Graphics Tablet in white. Its great and works well in Photoshop.

I'm not a serious graphics designer, just like to play around.

Wacom is also the company that make the Intuos tablets. The Bamboo range is for the casual user. The Intuos range is for the professional market. So don't worry about the bamboo, its made by the best tablet manufacturer on the planet :P

I've got an intuos 4 myself, but a lot of my friends at uni use bamboo's (for sculpting and drawing) Mostly bamboo Pen + touch, or just Bamboo pen.

Generally all Wacoms are very good throughout the range. try not to get hung up on size, and don't go for the bargains in aldi or wherever as medion, tevion, trust et al are just rubbish. A few people went down that route on my course and regret it!

see what you can get a bamboo 'pen' for - black with the little red tab. one of the models you listed seems to be an old model.

[edit] what's your budget? I take it you'r looking for bang for buck?

I have an intuos 3 A4 that I bought from Ebay... haven't used it in a while, must get it out again. I had a Trust or something that came from the place that sounds like a holiday camp, and although it worked as a pointing device, it's nowhere near as good as the Wacom... not that I expected it to be; I paid about £35 for it.

Never used a bamboo, but Wacom's support is amazing... I know that much.
Also for zbrush - i noticed quite a large (possibly placebo) improvment over a cheapy tablet with the intuos...

I'd go for wacom, A5 size would be perfect, but I do love my A4.

No doubt about it that Wacoms are the best tablets by a fair margin. However as I do a fair bit of speed painting on photoshop on a 24 inch monitor I needed an A4 tablet. The reason for this is that for the best combination of speed and accuracy I needed a tablet that would be roughly the equivalent size to what I am drawing on-screen.

I went for the Trust TB-7300, cost me £70 when I brought it (shopped around for a long time). It's not a perfect tablet, but its pretty good. The only let down is driver support.

For non-real time painting though, or for smaller monitor use the Wacom Bamboo A5 would be good though, I was almost going to get it.

Yep, bang for buck is the name of the game mate...

Dont really wanna spend over £100 tbh :)

Which is the latest model out of the top two?

Do they both have the Touch thing where you can use your fingers to zoom, rotate and scale?
