Hey All!
I am looking to just get a graphics card for about a month or two before I save up to buy one of the top cards, I am currently thinking about getting the asus 768mb gtx 460, how does that fare on 1080p resolution?, will do some light gaming such as Batman, Elder scrolls, FSX and F1 2010, any preferences for gtx 460s

a 1gb 460 will last you longer than a month or two, i play at 1920x1080 and it handles everything at settings, mostly with 4xaa and a few games have to drop down to 2xaa.

Batman, Elder Scrolls and f1 2010 will all run at max settings with AA, FSX should run pretty well proving you got a decent CPU.

Probably better of with the 1gb model, looking at the small price difference. I'd second the opinion that a 460 will last you more than a month or two, as its a very capable card.
If you are going to use it for games and 1080p playback, a quiet card like the cyclone would serve you well;

If its out of your price range tho, the gigabyte 768mb is an excellent card for the cash;

If you're looking for a temporary card I'd get a 2nd hand card like a GTX285 or so. Can be had for less than £90 on MM and would be better the ideal option to save a bit.

how will these compare to a hd 5850 at 140 pounds? I've been trying to see how they fare overclocked sapphire radeon hd 5850 vs overclocked gtx 460

I have the Gigabyte GTX 460 768MB and it's a great card, plays Black Ops/Crysis Warhead at max settings smoothly and HD playback is awesome.

Save up a little more and wait until you can get a GTX 560 or ATI 6950?

If you go for either the 5850 or GTX 460, they will still be solid cards for quite some time yet. If your planning on getting one as a stop gap to buying something else, it would be a better idea to just find an extra £60 and get a GTX 560 or 6950 instead.

get a good cooling 460 - the one I have Gigabyte is almost inaudible it's that quiet. The CPU cooler fan is louder than the GPU dual fans :D

Ah thanks thanks, well i've decided on the msi gtx 460, now i've got a hd tv and a monitor, will if I use dvi to dvi for my TV will I be able to get audio through the dvi connection for my TV or do I have to purchase a mini hdmi cable to hd cable for my TV to get sound and video?
