Iphone 3GS unlock woes

Have just Jailbroken my 3GS (4.2.1 Firmware) (on 05.13.07 baseband?? didn't get chance to look properly beforehand) using Greenpoison and have tried to unlock it using Blackra1n via the iClarified website tutorial. However after following the instructions and got to the Return to Cydia screen after installing, t froze, so I rebooted it and now it only gets as far as the Apple Logo/Chronic Dev Apple skull Logo (timer is just beneath the skull) and just freezes. I did try to restore it via iTunes boot it wont recognize the phone as it freezes at the logo's.

I've tried to restart the phone via home/sleep buttons but to no avail as all I get it the frozen screen.

Any ideas are appreciated.

You will require to put it into DFU mode to recover this time around. Restore it via iTunes in DFU mode.

Your welcome. It sounds like when Cydia updated it froze and it was in the process of updating important system files thus you couldn't boot.

You could use Cydia again, but connect to WiFi, update, then reboot. If it's the latest GreenPois0n then it's untethered so you are ok to restart the phone.

Yeah, I think that's what happened, I've now jailbroken it again and all is well, think I'll leave the unlock alone as I didn't need to do it really, just wanted to see if it would work ;-)

If it works, don't touch it! I have it unlocked + jailbroken using GreenPois0n + Ultrasn0w + Cydia + Installous = owned.

Glad you got the problem sorted in the end.

Sorry to hi-jack but I'm in a predicament simialr to the OP. Latest Greenpoision jailbreak although my baseband has been upgraded to 6.15.00 (?).

Anyways, I appear to not receive any signal with my carrier. No matter what SIM I put in, I get NO BARS of signal on the phone. I can't make calls or text. It just "Fails" instantly.

Now, the phone was given to me half bricked by a guy of less than reputable nature. I managed to get it this far (using it as a Touch, as wifi works).

Is there a chance that if the phone IMEI has been blocked it automatically disabled signal/doesn't work?

I think it is that or the latest jailbreak + Baseband upgrade has affected the phone.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

You could always try dropping the IMEI in here (uses the checkmend DB which is where blocked imeis are cross referenced). I've used it a couple of times.

Well, I type in the IMEI and I get:

FAIL - IMEI number 0********0 Failed

I assume that means it IS blocked? Or does it just mean that the site doesn't recognise the IMEI?

Edit:- Answered my own question by putting in my Nokia IMEI in the field. It goes green and registers successful. Looks like this guy has a Touch.
