Ahead of it's time

i really did enjoy 6, but it suffered for me, as i played it after 7 and 8. Probably about 2 or 3 years after FF8 so it probably lost some of it's power for me.

btw. I just remembered that bit in MGS where you have to enter a code for something and it tells you it's on the cd case. I didn't know what it was talking about:D had to ask people what to do... brilliant

VICE CITY!

GTA3 was absolutely amazing, and to me it still is, but Vice City improved on it in so many ways. I remember trying to fly the Dodo on GTA3 and most of the time failing, then Vice City came out and you could actually fly planes and helicopters! It added boats, you could change your clothes, buy your own safe houses, there were loads of weapons, more cars, the map was freaking awesome and the music! Oh the music!

I just jizzed.

Totally agree with FF7, MGS and GTA 3.

I'm going to throw Oblivion into the mix. Although I don't think that its ahead of its time, it was the first game I'd played that was the type of game I'd dreamt about as a child. An RPG where you can just pick up and go anywhere you want.

Any game on SNES or before that actually let you save your progress such as Super Mario world or Final Fantasy. I loved those games since it mean't I didn't have to start over everytime I switched the console off.

I'd argue the PSOne as a whole was ahead of it's time when it came out, the leap from SNES/Mega Drive to playing Wipeout, Tekken or Ridge Racer on your home TV was enormous.

Really? Ridgeracer?

When at the same time the Saturn had Daytona and Sega Rally, which took a wizz over ridge racer. :)

I agree with MGS1 but would also include MGS2. This trailer with the realism depicted in it just blew me away. The end part where metal gear ray shows up was outstanding. It has been 11 years and still this is brilliant:).

I actually think that Uncharted was one of them. I just played it and still found the graphics to be great.

Story was great too and it was what added trophies to the game, tbh I think it set a new standards. Goes for both of them really.

Either you're joking, or I'm going to run you out of town for your poor gaming history knowledge.

Yeah, that seems to be some commodore game called Deus Ex Machine. completely different game (i've never heard of it, before my time)

I am sooo looking forward to Deus Ex Human Revolution, but i've got a bad feeling, how long has the release date been 2011 now? ithought it was due out in Feb.

That 5 minute trailer that's around looks amazing

Goldeneye, along with Counter-strike 1.6, pretty much invented the multiplayer FPS as we know it.

Elite. It was the first game that managed to create a persistent, living, breathing game world with the illusion of complexity; GTA3+, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and pretty much any other sandbox game you care to mention were influenced by it in some way. It also managed to do it in 128k!
