Hey all

I wasn't sure where to post this - whether it was in mobo or gcard - but here goes.

Just finished a rig which has 2 x 6970s in CF and a Gigabyte P67-UD7 mobo. I had to place the cards right next to each other to have them in both 16x lanes. However, given the size of these HIS 6970s, the top one seems to get very hot with anything below 70% fan speed! Crazy hot!

Has anyone has experience of using the second x8 slot? I have read countless reviews saying that there is only a 1-3 FPS difference with x8 and x16. So I could go top x16 and fourth x8 slot

Thoughts welcome

Thanks in advance

Yes, move the card down. There is practcally no ifference at all btween 16x and 8x
You could also try getting some antec spotcools and seeing if that helps at all

i never found any long crossfire bridges when i looked :/ not on google anyway

my cards dont seem to do too badly next to each other.. better than expected.. but i did wedge a tiny rubber disc between them so they are about 4mm apart now

That is what I have got. 1 is x16 as is 3. The cards are high/deep, however you look at it

4th is the x8 slot I wish to move it to

I meant the third PCIE slot.
I thought that wih a pcie in between it should just about fit.
Maybe email the card manufatere to see if they have any extensions. failing that try the bay
