Can anyone tell me how well BFBC2 scales in Xfire ?
It plays well as it does with just one card, but I kind of presumed FPS through FRAPS would always stay in the 100-160 FPS ?
Or am I being greedy ?

I seem to have a problem only with BFBC2 as it will switch off the whole computer ? all plays smooth very smooth.
I have just changed my power supply to the Coolermaster 1000w and it still switches off computer.

I am not getting this ? has anyone heard of a problem with 10.2 and BFBC2 doing this ??

Oops sorry yes meant 11.2
Computer has just switched off again :( i think maybe the GPU is getting to hot as i have a sound card very near the top GPU so now i have set fan to manual and at 50% ouch that's loud

I will now see if this works...........

Ok playing nearly an hour now with both 6970 fans set at 50% and all is ok, so must be a heat issue.
Can any experts confirm that if a graphics card overheats it could switch off the whole computer ?

Also BFBC2 FPS wise i don't think is that great with Xfire most of the night fps was around 50-80 ? and I had GPU-Z running one for each card and GPU load was only 23-32% for each card ? surely it can't be that low....

Turn off Vsync!

I never have Vsync on ?

I had a good play with BFBC2 with fans on 6970's set to 50% on both and no computer shut down, So can overheating on a gpu cause the comp to shut down with no errors ?

Thanks all

P.s
I have seen on an old post regarding checking temps on NorthBridge in bios, seems if temps max set low could cause comp to shut down with no errors, I will check this tonight.

I did not have this with my 4870's Xfire I know my 6970's cards are much more powerful and produce more heat but now with my new CoolerMaster 1000w power supply I thought the problem would go away :(

Does anyone know what the NORTHBRIDGE voltage should be on an ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA x48 M/B?
In bios it is showing up as 1.61v what does the Northbridge do ? does that have any thing to do with the PCie slots ie Xfire ?

Thanks

Ok one more thing i have found, Crysis with single 6970 all on high runs nice between 35 to 100+ fps but when i put xfire back on the fps drop to the floor 20 to 60 but feels very sluggish ?

I have one xfire connector on should i use 2 ?
I was running 11.2 i now have taken those off and put back 11.1a still as bad :(
I had 2 GPUz up one for each card and in Crysis the GPU load was around 20-24 on each card :-0 that can't be right seems very low to me, I would have thought around 50-70% load on each or am i missing something here.
Anyone got any ideas ?

overheat gpu should not shut down the computer. but a overheated cpu can..

Hi szssharpen

The CPU on load in game "maximum I have seen is 54c"
I cant work out if it's software or hardware ? I looked in one forum and this guy had the same sort of problem and in the end a Bios Battery sorted it

I have done more testing this morning,

seems when in xfire BFBC2, Call of Duty World at War and, Black ops my GPU,s are showing 22-26% load on all those games and is half the FPS of having just a single 6970 in ?? BFBC2 average 40-55fps Xfire, single card around 70-120 ?

Heaven bench I seem to be around everyone's score and in 3d mark 11 around 7,200 also when in games I have the Xfire logo come up just so i know it's on.

Could someone give me a GPU load that xfire 6970-50 i should be seeing.

Thanks.

Well my single 6970 has 100% load when in most things that require it.
I would expect x fire to be the same except you should get higher scores/FPS

It's really doing my head in Cleeecooo :(

Both PCIe lanes are X16 and show's as in GPUz, Last night I put back 11.1a cats
I have my son playing on allot this morning ;) and has not crashed once :)
So is this a software thing ??

I think the only thing left for me to do is reformat in re-install Win7 "last resort" it's only a gaming comp so not to much hardship.

One more thing I noticed when I got my 2nd 6970 the BIOS switch was in position 2 ? does it matter what position it's in ? I put switch back to 1 before i installed the card.

Ok Update to my problem,

I bought a new Bios battery and done a fresh install of win7 then installed 11.2 with CAP 1 and computer has not shutdown yet "fingers crossed"

CAP 1 is better at around 30-36% load on old win7 install load was around 20-30% So is this normal ? should i be seeing such low gpu load ? when I switch off Xfire my gpu load shots up to 80-98% ?

Seems not worth buying into crossfire if you have two card with a combined load of say 60% and wont play as smooth to boot.

What am I doing wrong Please help
