Hey all,

I read on the nvidia site that the minimum PSU wattage for the GTX580 should be 600w, i have a 600w PSU (Corsair CX600) and was wondering if it would be fine?

Rest of PC spec:

i7 950 (stock)
6gig corsair xms (2gb x 3)
500gb sata hd
120mm CPU cooler
2 x 120 mm case fans
CD/DVD RW

With the cpu & gpu at full load you should have a min of 100w spare! :)

I have a similar setup with my i7 at 4ghz and this pulls 500w from the mains full load.

I thought the new CX series was over-rated (in wattage)? Personally I wouldn't try it but if you think it's fine go ahead. :)

The CX range isn't really overrated, as it can deliver 600watts. It's just that the design it is based on only goes up to 500 watts, so to get a 600 W unit Corsair had to use a lot of 3.3 and 5V rail to get the label that high. I don't believe the temperature rating on the CX series is very high either. So the best thing to have done would be to get a good 600-650 watt power supply.
